seemed that way to me.

It might have. As one of the few people who actually put up money to make this happen, I spoke to both Todd and the admins and got the full story. Unintentionally, Todd broke the rules. He has been given an opportunity to restart the process and follow the rules. Todd told me it was still going to happen, but that was over a week ago.

The admins were not against the idea of the bass or the club, they just needed Todd to follow the rules to keep everyone happy. I know this because I actually talked to them about it...

Thats good, as it seems to me, folks in here were calling it the "Talkbass" limited spector instead of the "spector club" limited spector.
The Talkbass folks didn't like that. Which is certainly understandable, they can't look like they are endorsing a manufacturer over another. I respect that policy.

Instead of saying-hey guys, you need to call it anything but a "Talkbass" edition because.....(fill in the blank)............they didn't say anything and just deleted all the posts regarding the Spector Club LE bass. As a regular visitor of the Spector Club and not having any inside information, this was handled very poorly by Talkbass.

I said six weeks ago I wasn't going to send in a deposit until the end of the month. I felt there was a chance it wouldn't happen. When Talkbass started their freak out last week, it was obvious it wasn't going to happen.

I'm sure this post will eventually be deleted. That what they do when they are criticized here.

This. With the deadline this promotion had, the way it was handled was essentially a death sentence. It was an enlightening situation for sure.

Thanks Guy for filling us in on the real story! :)

Thanks! This is from one of my previous bands, definitely the funnest cover I've ever done. The bass on this track was NOT recorded with a Spector, but right now I wish it was! :bassist:
Yeah, I can tell that the bass wasn't real dominate or fuller in the track...it will be with your Spector bass! :bassist: None the less, great job! Sounds like it'd be fun to jam to!

You weren't really following along if this is all you gleaned from the conversation. The use of the TB name was an issue. Furthermore, the use of the forum to sell merchandise without being a paid advertiser was also an issue. THAT'S why the posts were deleted

this is correct.

The use of the TB name was an issue (without asking first). Furthermore, the use of the forum to sell merchandise without being a paid advertiser was also an issue. THAT'S why the posts were deleted

this is also correct (bold words are mine)

there was no freak-out, nor are we against this idea. proper procedure needed to be followed first. hopefully, if this is done by those individuals involved, this instrument can still happen.

I'm sure Todd got the message loud and clear and won't make that mistake again. Too bad the bass got killed as a result.

Like I said before, no good deed goes unpunished. This club was all abuzz over the prospect of this bass and it was a positive situation for over a month that was turned into a negative by an honest mistake. Such a shame.

This is the last I'll say on it unless someone addresses me directly. I'll look into getting a Forte or USA neck thru later this year.

Todd alone has it in his power to correct the issue and get this bass back on track.

My posts were deleted and I wasn't trying to sell anything.

I understand deleting the thread Todd started about the LE bass. I don't think I made a post in that thread. My beef is the posts in the Spector club thread. Folks were questioning why Talkbass deleted the LE bass thread. Instead of telling us, they deleted every mention of a Spector Club LE bass. Which was the final nail in the coffin for the Spector Club LE bass.

Look, I know it probably wasn't going to happen, thats why I held on to my money until the end. It was expensive, timing was bad, the deadline was short, the color options were short. I understand that. It's that I was surprised how poorly Talkbass handled the situation.

Like anyone liked the bass because it had "talkbass" in the name. As if that made it better.

I think it's too late for that now. Several guys who were going to get into this have since bought other Spectors (yourself included I believe). January was the best chance for this to happen with people getting tax money in February/March. People have moved on by now I'm sure, and why wouldn't they given what's occurred?

The way it was handled rubbed me the wrong way and I'll get over it. In an organization, issues come up you don't expect and its easy to bungle the response. I've done that in my business, probably will do it again. It doesn't happen on purpose, it just happens. Its easy to know how to fix a problem in hindsight.

I'm sure Todd will know how make this bass happen, and it will happen eventually. I'm also sure the talk bass folks learned something too.

Congrats all that got new basses!

I forgot to add some photos of my bass by the start of this thread, so here comes a few taken today by myself.

Peledog, congrats! I think alot of us here have helped Spector have a good November, December, and January!

You definitely are correct there stjohn. Just in this thread alone, a bunch of Spectors have been bought over the past few months and it's only going to get better. People will start getting their tax returns very soon and we all know what that means.....more Spector's. I will definitely be one of those people :)
