The dead note thing is mostly to do with the fretting hand. My slapping hand hits the same its you have to have a good grasp with the holding of the fret hand enough so it don't ring....again the slapping hand is on auto pilot. You don't want to worry about looking at that hand and concentrate on just the fretting hand.....speaking of which I haven't done some slapping songs in a couple of years. My current situation doesn't call for it....anyways it was fun learning back in the day...I will try to paste some real good books/videos I learned from.

Out for delivery ! I should go stalk the driver...WWSD??? I wonder what his route is and where he'd be about this time of day? Hmmm Problem is I'm out in the country and I'm at the end of his Mackinac city (15 miles north) route when he's coming back. Between 3-6 pm Haha :scowl:

Cool to hear the different tones of the different basses. Awesome playing as well.

Now I'm totally confused about what I thought I knew about wood tones lol. Kind of confirmed what I was hearing. Maple might be maple but the tones can vary pretty wildly. Cool to hear that your liking the dougie. Their Definatly a different animal, I'm pretty hooked on that neck now lol. Interestingly enough mine sounds like a cross between your black NS2a and your dougie. The black one Definatly has some magic! Great stuff!

Definately great stuff! I'd love to hear you play an exotic woods like walnut, burl popular or redwood! ;)

Okay, so I've completed the EMG 45DC+OBP-3 install in my bass. I couldn't get clips up yet because my stupid audiobox decided to fizz out on me. Now only one of the inputs work and there's super static on it when I record. Hopefully I'll have something else soon to upload some clips.

My first impression is that the DC's sound waaay better than the TWs. They're definitely brighter sounding, more aggressive pickups, and I like that. The TW's are great, just a bit too warm and mellow for me. The OBP-3 is everything we all know it is. You have to go really easy on the controls, especially the bass and treble!! I've actually been cutting my treble. I attribute some of the brightness to the all maple body and neck. I think I prefer the aggressive yet cleaner sound of the OBP-3 versus the Tonepump, but it's probably because of the kind of music I play.

Anyways, clips up soon hopefully, and I definitely recommend this upgrade.


Um.......anyone need a set of 45TW's+Tonepump w/trimpot???:hiding:

Just took some pictures of the progress on my refinish. Don (the guy doing the refinish) has done an awesome job so far! He just brought it to where i work to show me how it looks. Can't wait to get this finished and on stage!!!:hyper::bassist:

I liked the color, but the finish was dinged up a good bit when i got it. Out of all the Spector basses i have the plum was my least favorite color. I've always wanted a Spector with a Walnut finish. This one plays really well too. This bass has the thinnest neck of all the Spectors i have as well. I've never played a Spector that had a neck this thin. I'm seriously thinking of a matte finish on this one too. I can't wait to get it back finished in a week or so. :hyper:

I wish it was going to be done by our next show, but i know it won't. :bawl:
