These are copies of the neck-thru Euro series.

Lets just say these have something to do with the original people who were involved in making the Euro series Spectors. (That’s all I was told and was asked to not to elaborate on any further details)

From what I understand the quality isn’t close to the “real” Euro series Spectors.
I know someone who owned one.

You rarely see these outside of the Czech Republic. They are usually flawed in some major way... have different electronics (not EMG - no TonePump) and they lack Schaller hardware... They are inferior to the Czech Made Spectors in every way and often are solid colored to hide the wood flaws that prevented them from becoming "real" Spectors in the first place.

Here is rough translation from someone in the Czech republic trying to sell one of these basses:

According to the information from the manufacturer: Amber Bass Guitar 4 is produced by the company Delicia from 2002 until the abolition of production in 2004. It was a series of fire-sale bass, which was prepared and adapted from the unfinished, but already in progress Spector Bass production runs. Amber4 bears the mark "D" - Delicia.

Amber Bass Guitar 4 has a through-neck, and together with the body are made of Canadian maple. The body is curved into a slight curve. The neck has a graphite reinforcements in addition to improved strength. Fingerboard is rosewood. Brass plated bridge, Grover mechanics. Bass has 2 x active humbucker. Active electronics with the battery is accessible after removing the back cover.

The storms were in the southern part of Michigan. We didn't get it up north. It snowed some yesterday but didn't collect on the ground.

The P-J pickups compared to humbuckers I'm used to are a bit less in the mids, but more "open" like there's more tonal range to them, which is good overall, but being a more mids guy I'm running the tonepump with the EQ knobs all the way off to get a little mid bump. (I recall hearing that the tonepump has a slight cut, and a lot of boost, rather than the center of the knob's rotation being flat) It is a non-trim tonepump, so it is older than whenever those came out (S/N is ND166x if that means anything to anyone)

I don't feel bad for getting it from the guy for such a low price (just under 800) anymore, as it has a number of nicks/dings along the bottom and back, and a few scratches in addition to the 2 dings between the pickups on top. Not something I personally care about all that much, I just play it for the sound, but I think being beat up a bit makes me feel better that I got it for a low price. Also it has Schaller straplock buttons, but it is missing the actual straplock parts that attach the strap to the buttons.

I have a couple of the straplock parts leftover from another set, but one is missing the nut to attach the strap, so I'm gonna have to see if I can make something to get it to work (also they are chrome vs. the gold spector hardware).

But overall it sounds good, I might switch the EMGs for old-school cream Dimarzios if I can ever find the P pickup, as the EMGs are a bit clean for me, but we will see. Pics to come when the weather isn't awful out.

Funny...I did the same thing when I sold my Ian Hill...I didn't send the schallers strap buttons either. Never gave it any thought to. Lol I don't use Schallers as I prefer Dunlaps instead.

Yeah I prefer Dunlops and put those on the gutted NS20004 that came without any, but I figure if they are already installed I might as well use them.

Still can't find a nut to fit the straplock part to hold the dang strap!!! :scowl:

Ok so after some playing for a while I took out a pick...and now I "get" the tonepump.

On this Euro, all knobs maxed, playing with a pick and blasting the crap out of my amp...THIS THING SOUNDS AMAZING.

Man, I see why you guys need to get ampegs for this cause i can only imagine how epic...

I only play with a pick when covering songs where the original recording is played with a pick but man, this Euro makes me want to play some hard rockin pick stuff like nobody's business.

A drummer friend of mine was kicking around the idea of doing an AiC tribute band as something to do for fun just screwing around, but I think I may have to push the idea on him after playing this thing :D Even if noone comes to see us damn it would be fun.

The problem is I live ^^^in Australia and the prices are high. Cheapest I can find is $700. My parents don't trust guitar center, because they say its to cheap so it has to be a scam. So I researched the Spector performer...how different is the performer compared to the legend classic ^^^in terms of weight, scale and sound. Because I really liked the lightweight neck of the legend classic. Oh and buy the way this is my first bass buy.

performer is all passive (p/u and pre), legend has active pre and passive p/u. not sure on weight, both have 34 in. scale. im not sure about the sound. gc prices are good, but what might kill you is the shipping since you live down under. but if youre not satisfied, i believe you have either 30 or 45 days for refund. then again, the shipping...ouch. but its all up to you what you want to do. im sure some of the other guys on here could have some ideas too. tell your parents its not a scam lol. ive bought from there and they are fine. so its your call my friend. :bassist:

it seems theyre running free shipping right now, but i dont know if its international or not. im sure its not.

Wow. Just went on the Spector website (and WOW all those pics look great btw) - and saw something very very interesting. Apparently the new performer 5 string is a 34" scale...;).

All I can say is thanks Stuart...thank you. I wanted to do a piccolo 5 string, but didn't want a 35" scaler for it.

Wow... I hadn't caught that. I only play 34" scale. I'll be on the lookout for the first wave of "previously owned" 34" Performer Fivers.

One of the reasons I bought my Warwick FNA was precisely because finding a 34" scale 5 string Spector was precisely between slim and none...and slim just left town. Not that the Warwick isn't a great bass (imagine a cross between a Spector and a Music Man - with a sweet flame maple top), but I'd be a liar if I said it wasn't a factor in my decision. Now I can buy one to convert, still have my Legend 5(which is undeniably a great sounding bass) and be able to save for the day I can get either an old Spector 34" 5 string or get one made to order (or of course, get distracted into something else)...
