I'm currently in a Soul/R&B/Classic Rock/Blues cover band. Ideally I'd like to be able to solo over a standard 12 bar blues and/or a funky soul thing like Wiily Weeks did for Donny Hathaway on Voices Inside (Everything is Everything) from the live album.

I will check that out and see...one of the best solos I have heard was Tommy Simms. Check his stuff out if you have not heard of him. He has an interesting style....Jimmie Lee Sloas too..
I'm looking to buy a legend 4 as my first bass. Anyone got one that can give me a quick review. I tried one today, Little to no fret buzz at all. Smooth neck and strings placed the right distance apart.

Anyone know how to report a scammer on TB? Like on other websites you can flag them to be banned?
Got one asking about one of my basses I'm selling to recoup some of the $ I spent to get my Euro Spector (also I have run out of racks and stands!).
They just joined today just before they PMed me, their user info page has as little information as possible, they have not made any posts or any threads, their last activity was the time they messaged me (1:21am), and this is the kinda message, which SCREAMS "THIS IS A SCAM"
grettings, i'm writing because i'm really interested in buying your danelectro dead on bass vi.
could you give me more information about the selling?
i live in argentina, but know a guy that performs this kind of businesses (shipping instruments from the usa). should i give you his mail?
all this sounds a little abrupt, but i'm really really interested on the instrument.

It's almost word for word the kind of scam email I get on craigslist all the time. There is no "more information about the selling", I wrote a hugely long post of details about the instrument and there are something like 10 pictures.
Not sure how to report PMs or a user to a moderator, just posts.

Finally received my NS-4HM, thought I'd show her off. I had a NS back in the day but this far exceeded my expectations! Put on some Lo-Riders and wow sounds awesome!

get it. i have one and love it. if its priced right. you might be able to find an ns2a for a little more, but from what the guys on here say, killer bass for the price.
Thanks Ice! I'm gonna slap a new set of Rotosounds on her today to get some crunch. I just received a brand new SWR 350X to play with. Hopefully the kids will give me few minutes to goof around.

That's the basics of it.
It's a little more involved, on the written page, when dealing with changes that are non-diatonic/modal.
Hey Jaymi, thanks for the slap lesson on FB. Looking forward to more of those. For your next series,, can I suggest a "how to solo" video series? I need help in that area also.
I'm awful at solos. Just dreadful. I tell bands, "don't give me a solo" but they do it anyway.

Got the Euro, FINALLY. First impressions: Excellent craftsmanship, feels great. Somewhat lighter than my NS2000 basses.
The P-J pickups compared to humbuckers I'm used to are a bit less in the mids, but more "open" like there's more tonal range to them, which is good overall, but being a more mids guy I'm running the tonepump with the EQ knobs all the way off to get a little mid bump. (I recall hearing that the tonepump has a slight cut, and a lot of boost, rather than the center of the knob's rotation being flat) It is a non-trim tonepump, so it is older than whenever those came out (S/N is ND166x if that means anything to anyone)
I don't feel bad for getting it from the guy for such a low price (just under 800) anymore, as it has a number of nicks/dings along the bottom and back, and a few scratches in addition to the 2 dings between the pickups on top. Not something I personally care about all that much, I just play it for the sound, but I think being beat up a bit makes me feel better that I got it for a low price. Also it has Schaller straplock buttons, but it is missing the actual straplock parts that attach the strap to the buttons.
I have a couple of the straplock parts leftover from another set, but one is missing the nut to attach the strap, so I'm gonna have to see if I can make something to get it to work (also they are chrome vs. the gold spector hardware).
But overall it sounds good, I might switch the EMGs for old-school cream Dimarzios if I can ever find the P pickup, as the EMGs are a bit clean for me, but we will see. Pics to come when the weather isn't awful out.

It looks neck-thru to me as well, which would make it an NS20004, but the listing says quilt maple which I have never seen on an NS2000 series bass, but the picture just looks gloss black. Someone should get that, it has to be worth at least the listed cost.
Also, anyone know where I can get a nut to fit these blasted schaller straplocks??? I can't find anything anywhere even on all my gear that will fit on this darn thing!

I'll hear the 2,5,1 and go that way then throw in the 6,2,5,1 leading back to the head. Then the lead guy throws me a solo and the whole train jumps off the track and bursts into flames.
