Sometimes I'll bring both cabs but just plug in the top one since it's closer to ear level. Both cabs stacked just looks crushing though.

This ^^^ I'm in a rock band and I refuse to have a small amp on stage. My rig is easy to move around but at some point I plan on upgrading to a GK 810 NEO cab (or two).

So besides that Euro, pretty much only the 5'ers now are 35" scale? Good to know.

I use a custom Circle K set right now that's probably who I'd hook up for this. They're a godsend for down/alternate tunings.

std gauge 5 string sets work fine on a spector. even on a 34" scale. Their 34" scale 5's are better than most 35" 's honestly. I played every 5 i could find before i bought my spector and their b was just that good.

the matched tension string sets do sound interesting though. They have some sick gauges avail. Damn telephone wires i think lol just huge!

honestly if it's a gig where i know i'll have a good monitor setup, i only bring 1 cab. the M9 plus 1 212 can get plenty loud.

well im maybe looking into an avatar cab and possibly a gk head in the future. avatar's b410 neo cab starts at $589. that's pretty good and their cabs are awesome! the head will be either a gk micro or ampeg pf. i heard bad things about the ampeg heads. so that's probably not good

I admit, I am very picky I have seen some USA bolt-ons like that go for around $1,400 which is why I thought that one is a bit high. If I was going to spend that much, I would probably save for a bit more and get a brand new one but that is just my insanity, lol.

Have you played those older models? That price may be higher than market, but those are awesome, awesome basses. Plus, that one has nicer wood than mine and a few others I've seen. The older ones have OBP-2s, the OBP-3 is not all that much of an upgrade (I have one in my rebop). The older ones are solid maple, very nice. I keep trying a few of the newer bolt on models, but they don't bring the thunder like my older US bolt on.

I like inlays, so that's one plus for a newer model, I guess.

haha i play the .124 "drop tuned" set with a .156 low B. they way they're made, and with how "natural" they feel even when detuned is just awesome. i played DR Lo Riders and Hi Beams before them, and it's a night and day difference. i'll be using them as long as they stay in business!

A GK700RB-II or 1001 would be awesome through an Avatar 410. I could easily get away with my gigs for that, I just like the gear I already have!

I recommend the GK MB 500 Fusion...or if you can wait get the 800 watt version that should be out this fall. The Fusion has a 3 tube pre and has crazy tone capabilities!

I regret selling my MB 500 fusion everyday!

yeah we get lucky here in orlando. There's a lot of entertainment here and everything is ground floor. Ramps at all the venues too so hauling an 8x10 is actually easier than a 4x10. no lifting, roll it in the u haul, roll it out, roll it on stage.

Almost everyone here has an 8x10 also, havent really seen much of anything else at gigs. kind of a who's got the uglier cab contest going on too lol. people give the SLM booger wood cabs flack but theres a ton of old REALLY beat up ones around here still going strong. I coated mine in beadliner and it will probably be good for another 20 yrs lol.

so donny, you like the gk. is it clearer than an ampeg? what makes it better for you?

Personally, I thought that was a bit on the high side. It was made in 2003 and doesn't seem to have the the OBP-3 like the newer ones have since I don't see the 2 stacked knobs.

But those ones are solid wings and fully rounded like the nt basses!!! Man... I wish the USA BO basses would be like that again.

I'd like to try one too someday. I like GK's attack, they just seem to be missing a lil "extra" sometimes, not sure what it is. I'm perfectly content w/ my M9 but those are what I would probably test out next.

their stuff is bulletproof and retains it's value very well. i buy used on most everything! one of my PH212's was new and the other was used as was my M9. no hiccups with either.
