Jeff, thats it only 14k? You are my top client and thats not enough, you should be spending more. :-D Jaymi, who helped pimp you that NS-2J? Had my mini pimp worship working the pages and passed it along. I hate doing this from the phone app takes me a year to type.

Yeah but most of it was at the strip club....hehe....j/k :bassist:...I just threw that number out there...haha

What exactly do you get with the 18v? Can the amp handle the EQ?

Running them at 18v doesn't effect the eq or the output. It gives the pickups more headroom. The whole tone becomes fuller. At 9v they run out of gas a bit and start to distort a bit on the low and high end. Sam has clips on sound cloud theres a big difference between the 9v and 18v pump. The 18v pump and haz not so much , but a little different.

I find my NS20005 with the EMG BT preamp at 18v has a bit wider frequency response, more high highs and low lows, which I generally don't like in a 4, but for the 5-string it works really well. If I want more mids on that bass I'm outta luck though :D

The dip switches help a little, but it won't growl like the haz or the pump. Not a bad sounding pre though.

Have ya tried running it at 9Vdc?? Less headroom = more growl, so I hear...

Speaking of pres... I took possession of Eric's Euro 4 on Friday (and less than 24 hours later, I was using it on a gig at Soldier Field. Looked damn cool on the jumbotron! :bassist:) Great bass! Exceeded my expectations for sure, but I'm not totally sold on the non-trim Tonepump. The bass sounds great, but the output is just too hot on this thing. I'm thinking of going with a BT since I have a lot of good experience with those in other basses, but may go with a new trim pot Tonepump. The 9V system would be nice, but that thing costs more than I paid for my entire NS-2A! Decisions decisions...
Most guys lower the pups a bit till they like what they hear. just sayin....

Just placed my order for a fretless NS-5H2 w/ 2 jazz pickups, Aggie OBP-3, and a thinner (Alex Webster-ish) neck profile. :bassist:

I can't thank Todd enough for all his efforts in this process!! He took the time to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it! He is even working on getting some pics of the spalt maple they have at the shop so I can pick out the top!

I talked to Todd for about a half hour and he is genuinely a really nice, humble guy! I couldn't be happier with my choice to go with Todd and the Guitar House and would recommend everyone check'em out for future purchases!

...and now the wait begins!

congrats... I'm just waiting on some funds to clear and then I will be ordering a new Rex4

I had my NsCR at 9v long ago. It never really growled ( like the haz or pump) , just sounded more squished. That BT pre is a clean little bugger.
I have a 9vdc BTC in my NS2J and an 18Vdc BQC in the Ian Hill...
You can definitely tell the difference....
Course that's 2 EMG J pups vs. EMG P/J pups respectively....
