I like it on the 5 because I feel like I get more "definition" on my notes if that makes any sense, combined with the 35" scale of the NS20005 it is the only bass on which I have felt the B-string was more than just a floppy noise. Also the only bass I've really enjoyed with a really clean sound.

My 4-strings are 9V, especially the haz-copy I have in the NS2004 :D They like to growl and get dirty

I can't thank Todd enough for all his efforts in this process!! He took the time to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it! He is even working on getting some pics of the spalt maple they have at the shop so I can pick out the top!

I talked to Todd for about a half hour and he is genuinely a really nice, humble guy! I couldn't be happier with my choice to go with Todd and the Guitar House and would recommend everyone check'em out for future purchases!

...and now the wait begins! :cool:

Running them at 18v doesn't effect the eq or the output. It gives the pickups more headroom. The whole tone becomes fuller. At 9v they run out of gas a bit and start to distort a bit on the low and high end. Sam has clips on sound cloud theres a big difference between the 9v and 18v pump. The 18v pump and haz not so much , but a little different.

Yeah, I was referring to the TonePump and going 18v with it. I'm going to have to search through older threads to see how you get two 9v batteries in there. Does it matter if the PUPs are passive, like the EMG Hz?

Has anyone else used Circle K strings on their Spector? I ordered a balanced tension set with a .142 B-string (same tension as a .106 E-string) for my Rex 5 and after about two weeks I really like them. The tapered B and E seemed to have fixed some of the problems I was previously having with the B-string, and the balanced tension is really amazing. The D and G are considerably lighter than most sets and the B-string is considerably heavier. This actually makes it really easy to play, and the strings sound great. Not as bright as Stainless Steel strings, but certainly not overly thumpy or muddy. Anyway, I really love these strings.

Anyone else tried Circle K's?

Awesome man! I am definitely jealous of the j/j config you are getting since that is what I have been debating on getting lately. Were they able to give you an idea of how long the wait is going to be?

I know Spector_Boogie uses them and he is a huge fan. I am actually going to order a set tomorrow to try out since I am currently using a customized D'Addario set with a .145 B string that I tune down to A and it seems like it's getting a bit floppy compared to what it used to be when I first got them. I plan on getting the .158 traditional set that has the .118 E string since I want to drop that down to C every now and then.

Yeah I would think that would work well on the 5. It's a good sounding pre. Gotta love the Spector low b on a 34 or 35.

Hey guys, my hunt for a neck through Euro came to a happy end today. I got a great deal on a NS4CRFM. At least I think it was. Have to wait for the UPS man to find out for sure. Where on the Spector site can I learn more about what came standard with this model? I can't find the old models on there but I think I remember seeing them somewhere.

Yep that was on the pump. Never tried it with Hz's though. Might be interesting, don't know if you'll get much out of it. The 18 v upgrade is really to give the emg's more breathing room.
I left the original 9v where it was and wrapped the second in foam and just put it in there. It's fine as long as its not touching anything metallic. Doesn't move around in there either.

Just ask.....

It's basically the same as the current euro's except for full maple wings, possibly the old finish brass bridge (some transitions with the new style I think) , and either the emg BT or tone pump depending on the year. Gold Schaller tuners and strap locks, brass nut, emg's. Great bass! Enjoy!

I also tried the .142 set...didn't care for them at all. Way to floppy feeling for me, and had no real punch. I couldn't get my DR's back on quick enough!
