About a month ago I believe. It happened real fast since it showed up on the GC site and I jumped on it

Yeah the obp-1 is not a favorite. Brittle, brittle treble. I'd sell the bqc for probably $65 shipped which is less than half of new. Would you be cool with that? Let me know and I'll decide later next week on all of it.

If you rip that BQC out, I would buy that from you if the price is right I really need to get rid of this OBP-1 in my NS-JH5 and was most likely going to put a BQC in it. I just do not like the tone of this OBP-1 in this USA bolt-on.

You will be happy you did. Mine came with the OBP1. Went to the BQC and never looked back.

Wow! That is my exact bass except mine is fretted. What made you get rid of it?

Thanks John, I think you make some really good points on why the tone is so close. If I keep the Webster, I'm probably going to smadder setup the thing and sell the BQC afterwards. I just don't need the onboard mid control, and I find the EXB circuit to be highly addictive (like Spectors in general)

I'm also going to take the Web to my tech on Tuesday when I get back and have him do a complete set up. It's a bit rumpled from shipping in the heat, so it will give me a better sense of which bass suits me better. But I can tell you I'm leaning towards the Webster. After two spine surgeries and 13 abdominal surgeries since 2005, I really don't have any business carrying around a 10 pound bass. So I need to consider that as well, even though I wish I didn't have to. So hopefully by Wednesday or Thursday of next week, I will have a decision. Either way, it's really cool to be in a position to have to decide

Whoa buddy Steve...that's some serious amount of surgerys in 7 years time! Because of my left shoulder work injury, which can't be fixed until they've perfected cartalidge replacement, that's why I sit on a stool with bass on my lap. You definately have a difficult choice between those two 5r's. I can most definately understand the weight concern.

Agreed. I have been fortunate to own several Spectors. Although I miss them, I'm glad they've at least passed through my hands. I wouldn't mind having that NS-5P back. Monster bass!

I still cannot get over how similar ours are except yours was fretless. It is light but my natural Rebop on the left is definitely lighter since it is made from alder.

I believe ChrisLoe bought one for his Buckeye Burl NS-4 and it wasn't cheap. If I remember correctly, it was around $125 but I will try and find the post he made saying where he got it from.

I REALLY REALLY like your NS-5H2! It just has a great all around look to it! I'm sure it plays/sounds even better than it looks!

...I also am fond of ol' greenie too, but who isn't?
