When I sold my Ian Hill I was away from home. I wanted to ship it right away so I went to Sam Ash and they gave me a used shipping box for free. They were happy to give it away as they had dozens in the storage room. Remember that the next time.

Please explain more clearly how you use Paypal for shipping? Do you mean you use your PayPal acct. for shipping pmt. ?

I used UPS for a while but USPS is often cheaper for me lately, if slower by maybe a day tops, and they've always arrived in perfect shape.

I've not shipped basses with USPS but electronic equip. I have. They are much less.

Yeah, my comfort zone is 9 pounds and under, so the Forte is a bit heavy (I just put it on the bathroom scale and it comes out to about 10-10.2), but it sounds so wonderful that it's easy to ignore for the first 45 minutes or so.

I'm hoping that the US BO fretless will come in right at or under 9 lbs!!

My forte 4 weighed 8.5 lbs...and I regret selling it almost daily! LOL!

Thanks for the feedback and perspectives everyone. This is such a great community. I talked it over with WilsonMusic (Chuckles) and am going to run things by Jaymi when I drop off his Ian Hill tomorrow as well, but I think I'm going to hold onto the Forte 5 for a bit longer. I'll never get one at that price again (unless it's really, REALLY used) and the Webster, while an awesome bass, is made from different woods and won't produce the same tone. It should be showing up in the next hour or so (UPS runs late here in Lilburn, GA), but I think I will just stick to selling the LX4, 5 and Webster and holding the Forte 5 for a bit. Financially, it won't get me as much up front, but I'm pricing the 4,5 and Webster really low (for being new basses) and then I'll just have to suck up the rest.

Anyway, I'll try to have pics of the LX4 and Webster up tonight.

That's a great choice Steve! I half sit on a stool while playing my Forte 5 on my lap. Are you going to let your MTD go too?

I'm not sure of the input sensitivity of the iNuke but in my experience the Tech 21 pedals (BDDI, VT Deluxe & Oxford) didn't fully drive my power amp. (Carvin HD1500 & DCM600) It still sounded great but depending on the volume you need it may or may not get loud enough for you. I also had Mike at Putnum guitars add a mid control to BDDI and it definately helped with the mid-scoop some seem to find with it. Great pedal though.:D

So I just opened the Alex Webster no-drip.

And to my consternation, I actually like it a little better than the Forte 5. It's lighter, the neck profile is much slimmer and faster, and the tone is so close as to be almost unnoticeable.

Plus it's got the benefit of having dual battery boxes. The ebony fretboard doesn't quite have the growl of the pau ferro on the Forte, but other than that, it's almost apples and apples in terms of tone.

I'm so completely confused about what to do now.

I'm just going to give it the weekend since I have to go out of town anyway and think it over.

What an awesome problem to have!! :bassist:

I suggest playing each over the next few days/weeks and see which one speaks to you more!
