Here's a pic of my BDDI with the Putnum mid control added. It's the unmarked knob on the bottom left. I have it set for a little mid-scoop now as it goes into a GK pre that has the mids a little forward. It works pretty well as I have a clean GK sound on channel 1, hit the BDDI and add some Ampegish color. Hit channel 2 on my 2001RBP and have an awesome distortion.
Anyway Mike does great work. I'm not sure if the mid-control hits the same frequency as the RBI or not. Mike said his scope was down at the time and he adjusted the range by ear. As soon as I get some extra coin I'm going to have him mod my Tech 21 Oxford to have a blend control and the "Jimmy M" mod which will give it better low end.

Does the Putnam Mod hit near the same MID frequencies as the Para Driver without the blend?

This is a track I've been messing around with for a while now and finally decided to record it. It still needs some work.

All bass, Spector NS-2. The keyboard sounds at the beginning and the end are made by using my Boss Harmonizer...tweaking the knob between the 5th to 6th to 3rd and back to 5th.

Best if heard with headphones...

My 28-year-old guitarist home-recorded a version of "No Easy Way Out", and it was on his SoundCloud site. When I joined my band, I asked him how he even knew that song, which is as old as he is. The answer: he's a huge fan of the Rocky movies!

2 questions for my fellow Spector-addicts!

1. What is the best way to remove pickups/pre from a bass to where they are reusable for someone else. I'm doing a guts swap with someone and I have never really messed with the electronics side of things. I want to get him the electronics in the best possible condition for him to reinstall them!

2. Who does the finish work for Spector?? I am thinking about having a bass refinished and want it to be done right the first time! I also am thinking about having it done in a color very similar to Spector's bahama blue. So if I could get the guy who does their finishes to do my refinish, that would be sweet!! ...or the name of someone that you would trust to refinish a bass.

If anyone has any info that can help me out it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I finally had a spare moment to post a pic of my set-up. Spector NS2A, Spector Legend 5 W/haz copy, >GK 2001RBP>Carvin HD1500>fEARful 12/6 & 12/sub. I was hoping to upgrade to a 15/sub but the deal fell through. I'm also looking to switch out the BT pre in the NS2A for either a haz copy or TP. The BT just seems to clear for me, I like a lot of grunt/grind.

No matter what these basses really play and sound great. Sometimes it's hard for me to grasp how great a Euro 4XL or USA NS-2 must sound. I know they must be an upgrade to what I have, but damn, for the price I paid for mine they sound awesome!!!!

I know what you mean about the Euro & USA basses...been there! When I bought my first Forte, then I understood.

I really like them. I build them myself so the cost was lower than having a builder do the work. I probably have between $8-900 in the pair. The can put out a lot of volume for their size. Down the road I would like to get a micro amp to have for a back-up or small gig amp. I can do most of my stuff with just the 12/6 alone. The rack amp is a little overkill then. The 12/6 with a 500W micro would be great for a lot of gigs. I swear the 12/6 with enough power is pretty close to as loud as my old SWR Goliath II at less than 1/2 the weigh. (40 lbs)

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around how 12/6 will have that full sound output vs. a 410 or 810 or 212 or 412. Can it compete with these cabs? In my head I'm thinking a bunch of 6's is going to sound really thin!? They'd probably have really fast reflex/response?

For sure! Isn't it something when we start comparing the cost of other things to the costs of Spector basses and gear?! Lol I do it all the time now. Haha! That really sucks Chris! I'm with you on that man! :scowl: For me...I'd love to buy the "White Whale" bad!!!
I'm thinking about replacing my 11 year old Monte Carlo SS I've had since new. It's needing several repairs...but when I think of buying another vehicle for 20-30K...I translate that into the Spectos that I could buy with that $$$! Lol

Special shout out to Steve (smadder) after a great long talk with him the other night We ordered EMG DCs and a BQC to upgrade my Rebop! I can't wait.

On another note, if you don't know Steve yet, make some time to get acquainted! He's a great person who is always willing to help a brother out. He definitely know his way around the EMG products that for sure! Thanks Steve.

Also on another note, I have had conversations with Jaymi and chats with Sam. Both these guys are great assets to the club......but you all already know this. Thanks to the three of you. The whole club has been very welcoming to me! This is a great group!

Some pick-ups unplug, if not then just unsolder the pick-up leads and remove the pots, pre and the 1/4" cable receptacle as one unit, you may need to unsolder the 1/4" cable receptacle.
There is a YouTube tour vid on Spector's facility and in that vid Stuart names the people that do the finish work for them. Search for it.

Hey guys,

I'm going to let my Bubinga Legend Custom 4 (set neck) go. I had a sinister plan to install some 35P and J's in it along with a Tone Pump for a serious sleeper. I don't like using the term MINT but this sucker is pretty dang close. I have it strung with chest thumping Cobalt's and the action is SICK low. The neck on this bass is very similar to a Kramer 2A. Very sleek and fast. For those that don't know it has a 3 band EG (stacked bass/treble) and vol/vol. $420 shipped to the 48 for the club price. I'll let it marinade here for a few days before it goes to the masses. Let me know...

I'm currently , still, building a 15/6/1 and by all accounts it's supposed to crush my Bergantino NV215. We'll see.

cool! I do not believe this setup unplugs, so looks like I need to go pick up a soldering iron!

I believe I have seen some of those vids, just never caught the names I am looking for!
