Anyone more knowledgable than me want to explain what this is? And no Im not trying to sound stupid, if you look at the trade offers he's looking for?

OK... an NS-2A is basically the very first Korean-Made Spector, made with the exact same body shape as the NS-2 at the time, so think "Euro" body shape and not "Legend" body shape.

It came with a stock Korean-made Haz copy. They were branded with "Kramer" on many of them.

The quality of the photo is pretty bad. But it looks like the Korean-Made copy and NOT the authentic USA-Made 9v Spector circuit (aka "HAZ" for HazLabs, the contractor that makes them for Spector in NJ).

I'd want better photos. I'd want to see any receipts or proof that this circuit was changed out for an original USA Circuit.

One giveaway is that he says it has the original Spector pickups. These are passive and won't work with the USA 9v Circuit.

It looks to me as if this is a completely stock, all original NS-2A.

I'd ask about fret wear as well. NS-2A's with the "SPECTOR" name worn off the pups from string contact usually also have some serious fret wear. This bass was made in the mid-late 1980's.

Thanks. It's not official yet but they did ask me back for August 25th so that's a good sign. These guys have been going through bass players left and right. Yeah, hard to beat Spector's through GK's that's for sure.

Well the Webster with the B3K was a big hit at rehearsal this weekend. Just went with the driven amp sound for now but need to experiment some more. Bass plays so easy.

Dude! Glad to hear it's really meeting your needs and you're loving it. Makes me really happy because I know I did the right thing. That bass was made to be played. And not hang on the wall as a decorative piece.

So I finally said enough is enough...a 5 can do everything a 4 can do and more. So I decided to go with 5's all the way!

And I am just glad that I was there to collect your jettisoned Forte 4

Hey guys,

I wanted to share a cool thing that happened today. I auditioned for an original band called "The Shallows" this afternoon. They do some folky type rock and roll if that makes sense. Anywho's I received all their songs and the bass player was definitely playing a P bass (easy to tell). I've been talking to the guitar player and asked him what kind of sound they'd like on the bass. He told me "you know, like a P bass through an SVT". Of course I could have supplied that but I said you know what, I'm taking the Spector's and GK....f it.

It was a tough decision, I didn't want to take 5 basses, so I decided on Big Earl (NS 2) and the newly acquired NS 2J from Jaymi. When I took them out of the gig bag I got the normal oohs and ahhhs. We got through the first song and the guitar player actually said "I didn't know bass could sound like that!" I mean, to say these guys were blown away with the tone would be an understatement.

I switched back and forth between both basses and each had their "area of expertise". The NS 2 does what it does....that low mid growl that just fills the mix. The 2J has that more open and nasally growl and is a tad bit more articulate. Not quite as "big" as the NS 2 but plenty for the type of music these cats are playing.

So anyway, moral of the story, is "f*ck 'em, feed 'em fish". They wanted the P, they got the Spector's and couldn't have been happier. Damn, I love these things.

ps. smadder - I was using the MB800 through my custom 215 Dually and it KILLED!

We have a high gloss blue 5 string MM Rebop in stock now. It's the only one that is going to have a gloss finish on it. The production run is going to have a matte finish. I played it when it came in Friday and it KILLS!!! I definitely prefer the gloss over the matte finish. But that is just a personal opinion.

Working on it brother. The one I have now sounds the same to me. Unplugged. It has the same solid vibrations as yours. It has an Aguilar OBP-2. Which sounds mean and growley, but the high end can get a little harsh. Needs some Tonepump love, or the USA 9V. It might be coming up in the classifieds. Will know tomorrow.
Meantime, here is a shot outside rehearsal studio. If some of you guys are wondering what this picture has to do with Spectors, two things. The bass player in the band whose Tshirt Im wearing is an outstanding Spector player. That, and I have a Spector strapped on my back

Haha! Me too E! Wierd thing about that Forte 4...as excited as I was when I opened up the case & picked it up for the first time...and I was very excited, just see my "Spector Story", Lucy Lui and I never bonded completely. Now "Angel" my Forte 5 is another story! When my Coda 5 DLX arrives I'll be doing another NBD video an "My Spector Story" part 2! I'd love to see more people do a NBD video...it captures the excitement of the moment!
