I took a hammer to a DR Highbeam 130 B string to flatten it out s it would fit my Euro5LX. But I usually use Sadowski steels in the black package or the Elixer coated since they are tapered.

Chris' sister Chantale just emailed me this:

The bass gifting video!!

the video is up of Doug's message to Chris and also Chris opening his gifts from us. Check it out ASAP!!!

Holy good googly moogly!!! You guys are the frickin best! No words could describe how you all have made my day today. I already can feel the Spector healing, and I am frickin dehydrated from all the crying. I truly don't feel worthy to know such awesome people or what you have done for me and my family. I am overwhelmed at your generosity, your thoughts and love towards me. The bass and all the stuff is incredible, but the thought behind everything and knowing all the support from all my Spector brothers and sisters mean more to me than any of you will ever know. I head to the University of Minnesota tomorrow morning to see about my Bone Marrow Transplant, but I feel stronger about it knowing you are all behind me.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You a million times over, you truly have made a fat man happy today.

Just be forewarned, the first time I meet any of you, I will be hugging you and kissing you on the lips.

Love you guys (Not in the drunk way....)
Chris.

Chris, You know we are expecting a few vid/sound clips of you playing that new axe!! :D Stay Positive, The family has your back!

This is why I'm a proud member of the Spector family!! What an amazing moment! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Im uber proud to be a part of the Spector family, I can't think of any other music brand or group of members that has gone above and beyond to bring pure joy to someone who is deserving of it. Spector for Life!

I had that problem on a bass I had and I just compressed the wrap which made it look slightly egg shaped if you looked closely at it but unnoticeable in the bass and it was never a problem after that.

this may be the way out but when you put the new string on, you (ideally) should first wind it on the tuning peg letting the other end (at the bridge) move free untill it strains and fixes itself in a bridge slot. If you start from fixing the end in the bridge slot (and it won't freely rotate while straining the string) the string which tends to rotation while winding it on tuning peg may twist and lose the tone.

You are more than welcome Chris! I'm so happy that we could bring some happiness and cheer into our brother's life and his family. And that you'll feel more positive love with you as you go to your first appointment and thru the whole healing process. Take care Chris and you know we love you!

Good luck today and get healthy by playing the crap outta that bass!!
Proud to be a member of this Club!!

Get well Chris! :bassist:

I spoke to Chris yesterday on the phone. It was amazing to hear how much joy he had in his voice.

This was a person who said he could barely get out of bed that morning and his voice was just filled with excitement and happiness.

Spector Healing has begun. :bassist:

I'm sure I speak for everyone that this picture is worth a million bucks! These days there is so much negativity from politics on down, it is great to see the power of people coming together to help others. We need a lot more of this and lot less of all the other noise!

To Smadder, JeffPlaysBass, JPS, LimaGuy and all of you that pulled this whole thing together, thanks for not only such a grand effort but allowing so many of us to be a part of it as well.

SPECTOR NATION BABY!!! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

That is a great thing y'all have done! I'm blown away by the generosity and support of so many in this club.

I must say that stories like this definitely make me want to join up. When UPS makes their delivery today, I should be requesting a number to join. Got a Euro 5LX coming from TBer WilsonMusic that's out for delivery today. :bassist::bassist::hyper: Needless to say, I'm a little stoked to get my grimy mits on it.

Chuckles got that one from Smadder so it should be KILLER...

Just get better! That's all any of us want.
For you and your wife and children.

I have often said (as has Sam) that the key to my recovery (in my mind and heart) was having such a positive outlet for me to pour my frustration when it seemed I was starting to let the doubt or fear take over.

In the past 4 years I've been so fortunate and lucky to have met so many amazing people. So many amazingly kind and caring people... and the bass guitar and Spector in particular... have been the common ground on which we stand.

I'm proud that the rally cry to send you messages of hope and encouragement have been answered by so many people from every corner of the world, from every type of music background.

And more come in every day.

So keep checking that page. It's only going to grow.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] isn't going to do anything but get bigger.

So we're going to hold your feet to the fire. Fight! Fight and win! KNOW IT. YOU WILL WIN.

Enjoy your day with your new bass and let the strength you get from knowing that you are loved and appreciated become part of your armor.

AMEN Patrick! :D
