He ended up pulling out one of his Carvin B1500 amps (he had 2 that night) from the rack for me to try. I've played a lot of stuff but that amp has to be one of the best lead sled's, no, one of the best amps I've ever played. I've slept on them for years but not anymore. Holy cow what a head.....only if you have the cabs to take the punishment though.
I am curious about the Carvin amps. I was seriously looking at a power amp, but ended up going another route. So the BX1500 is a good choice huh? Do you like it better/same/worse than the Mesa M9?
I am thinking of getting a new amp head and the M9 is high on the list. ...and now it looks like the Carvin is up there too!
I didn't think I'd really care about the neck being thinner on the Webster since I have big hands, but after a second rehearsal playing some pretty technical metal, I'm starting to appreciate it.
I could see myself ordering a non-Webster Euro with the same neck.

It's the B1500 and not the BX. The B is a heavy lead sled that IMO is worth it's weight in gold. It can sound a lot like the M9 only with more authority. Wait, what? Yep.

I'm think the M9 is a nice middle ground! It should match well with my DNA 112N (current cab) and eventually a 410 for the times I need a bit more umph!
I don't see that one on the website. All I see are the BX series and a B2000. ...am I missing something or is the B1500 is a discontinued?

AMEN to what Lee said.......it destroyed my Mesa Big Block 750, Aguilar DB750, and Ampeg SVT4PRO, as well as AMPEG 6PRO.

Yeah, they pretty much got rid of all of their amps with old school toroidal transformer-based power sections, so the closest you can get to this is the B2000. It's still really affordable new, has a tube pre, but the rest of the pre is still based on the same class A circuit used in the B1500. But it also only weighs like 13 pounds because of the SMPS. I've played through a friends and it's... it's pretty insane. 2000 watts is a lot more headroom than I've ever experienced and it was pushing two old, old Bergantino 6x10s. So yeah. Coming back home to my two neo 2x10 cabinets really puts the word "power " in perspective. As well as the words "volume" "hearing loss" "what" "sh!t that hurt - can we turn off the tweeters?" and "oh my god I can feel it in my lungs."
I can't speak to the Mesa, but knowing Lee's love for amplification (Lee, you should really re-post that shot you have of your "stack 'o heads" and update it while you're at it) and knowledge, if he says it can hold it's own, it's probably worth trying the latest incarnation of it from Carvin to see if you like it before dropping the green for a Mesa. Carvin has a good "send-it-back-if-you-don't-like-it" policy. And their warranty service is really incredible.
Anything else I need to put in quotes? Nope I'm done. I'll wait for the next thread.

So this is a amp killer huh?!?!
I need to check out some new amps. I don't like to sacrifice anything for tone, but it's enticing when they are sooo light!
Right now I am using a ShuttleMax 12 and it's just not cutting it!
