ya'll have any string recomendations for a Euro5LX? tried my D'addario XL nickles that I use on everything else that I have and the B string won't fit the bridge slot. Assuming then I have to use some sort of taper core string.

Something about the NS body style in blue hues really does it for me. My favorite three Spector colors are the Black/Blue stain (as on my NS-4), Bahama Blue and the new Ultra Violet - all in gloss.

Dude. I have to put a moratorium on your NS-4 as far as pictures and discussion goes. It's quite literally, the only thing that give me G.A.S. now. If I get a shot at an NS-4 or even a 2, I want that exact color and the exact same high grade tube quilt.

I've been using DR's or Dunlops. Both B's fit through fine with a little encouragement. :)

Sadowsky steels and nickels in blue and black label (I prefer black myself) have tapered B's. Also, Labella steels and nickels that you can order SUPER SUPER cheap through Carvin (especially if you buy 3 or more sets at a time) have tapered B's. I use both of these brands and am extremely happy with the quality and consistency from package to package. I love the steels on both and I like the Black label better than the blue for Sadowskys.

Hope this helps - definitely check both out, but the Carvin deal is ridiculous.

None topic related...I was just looking back at Spector Club Part 4 when I joined this awesome family. Part 4 started 12/01/2009-4/16/2010! Wow...hard to remember it took 4 months to get thru a thread! Lol

The tech tips on the Spectorbass.com site, recommend starting your pups at credit card thickness from strings. I don't know anyone that can play with pus that close but I'm sure there's some...as Donny said, adjust according to your playing style. My pups are about 2 credit card thickness from strings. It's the sweet spot that I love on my Forte 5 :) .

Wow - I would never thing to set the pickups that close. I would have thought the strings wouldn't even have room to vibrate.

What's weird is I've never received a Spector setup this way from the factory. I would think they would leave them close if that was optimal.

Do you happen to have a link to where on the Spector site it says that? I've been over a lot of the tech tips and I did not see that.

I think "optimal" can vary greatly from player to player, depending on action height, string gauge & wrap material, fretting hand pressure, picking/plucking hand attack & power, etc.
IMHO, the Spector & EMG factory spec is a good place to start, but your ears & playing style have to determine the final height.
