Functionally, this bridge is fine. Fender's used them for years as well as other manufacturers now. For me, it's just some personal preference. I was already aware of this when I bought it. Just looking to see if there's an easy interchangable option. :)

I've been spending more time with the Coda 5. I've gotta say, the more I play it, the more I love it.

I feel like you guys got the wrong impression from my first post, that I did not care for it. That wasn't the case. The bridge I knew was a vintage styled bridge. There's nothing wrong with this bridge, it's just not my preference and if it can be changed easily, then I probably will. Secondly, yes, the neck was a surprise. The main bass I was playing right now has a very thin wide neck. The Coda is much more substantial for sure. After playing it for a while last night and now playing it this morning, I gotta say, I think I may be in love. This neck feels SO good to me! I am impressed with the build quality and the sound is exactly what it is supposed to be...classic J bass!

Glad you are giving it time and getting used to it. It seems like some people don't always do that which is tough since no bass is going to feel the same. What is the main bass you are playing if I may ask? Just curious what you are comparing the neck to.

A chinese made Squier Jazz V. :hiding:

I'm almost ashamed to say that. lol

I recently started a custom build with Nino Valenti, and I sold my main bass to fund it. I bought this bass shortly after and have been playing it as I wanted a Jazz V to play until I got the Valenti. It's been heavily modded. Neck is great. It's wide and flat, so that's what I've gotten used to.

I've gotta say though, I played the Squier after I played the Spector this morning and the Spector is definitely more comfortable, I was just used to the Squier since I've been playing it for a couple of months.

Hey all. I'm new to the Spector club and can't get enough of it. I have a question: I love the tone from my NS2-JA-R. Its buttery smooth and also growls when I want it to. But I find myself torn between the tone of my NS2 and the playability of my Fender American Jazz. Obviously 2 very different basses.
Is there another Spector model that offers the tone of my NS2 and the playability of my Jazz?? Am I asking too much??

Welcome!

first off, I dig your profile pic! I've been using that alias for years as homage to the Simpson's! :cool:

Second, you can get a Doug Wimbish model that has the jazz string spacing and request a thinner profile neck. They won't make it TOO thin, but it also won't be the baseball bat that are on most NS-2's. :bassist:

Hey, no need to be embarrassed. We all play the basses that are comfortable to us and should never be ashamed. How long does Nino normally take to do a build? There is a place fairly close to me that stocks a few of his basses

But I am just curious how long the build time is when he does one for you. I saw a video of him playing one at an outside show and have to say that the tone was amazing on the thing. I believe he is in Staten Island which is probably not too far from our own Sam :)

Yea, Sam has said he lives near him. Build time is roughly 4 months. I've got a pretty sweet build coming from him. :D

I emailed PJ asking about other bridge possibilities. :)

Nino is a great guy and builder! He's a Spector fan as well. Always figured I'd go to him if I ever decided on getting a Pbass.
