Not many people like the TP Jr...

I am in that club!! I had a Legend with the tone pump jr, and it was by far the worst sounding pre that I have heard in a Spector. It was just really weak and just didn't ever really do it for me!

I prefer the Aggie OBP-2 or 3 now a days! I find it easy to get the sound I am looking for with an OBP-3.

I think you are heading the right direction to get the ReBop tone... Keep in mind that the Legend may sound a bit more mid present since it is maple and the rebops are alder.

SSD VS HZ: I've had both... The SSD are more mid forward. The HZs have a more balanced low end IMHO.. I had an HZ/TP (non trim) set up in a Performer DLX and I loved it.

TP vs TP Jr.: I have only used the TP not the JR. but the Jr. is a lower output version of the TP with less headroom and gain. Not many people like the TP Jr...

Agree on the Mid-presence difference because of body wood. Looks like the HZ's are a good choice to fix that.

Sorry to interrupt the top-secret contact talk, but I couldn't resist.....

The seat was spectacular.

There was an early sighting in the lobby pre-show.

And a very relaxed (and lengthy) chat/picture/autograph session after the show.

On stage - 14 electric basses, 4 upright basses, 4 horns, 2 keyboards, 2 drumkits, 1 adorable, hot singerbabe, Mr. Wooten himself, and absolutely zero guitars.

Now...back the our regular programming.

Just heard from Spector about my USA 9v. It's gonna be another 2 weeks. I'm sure they just drop in a ns2a.

what does everyone like best in their spectors?

Tonepump, Aguilar OBP-2/3, or EMG 2 band/3 band?

So far my favorite is OBP 3.

this is the answer im pretty much looking for. i want to keep the warm tone. i'd like to know if the aguilar is warmer than the tonepump, hopefully someone one in the spector club has tried it before.

The Aguilar is warm, full, deep, and more articulate like a piano in the mids & highs, but you can dial in some grit if you want, than the Tone Pump. I've played the TonePump Jr., non-trim & trim tone pump, Aguilar OBP-2/3, BTS, BTC.

i think i've decided based on some videos of could find of spectors with OBP-3's that i may try one out. what pickups have you used it with? EMG DC's?

+1 with what Donny says here. I've had both the TP & TPjr, the TP is the "Big Daddy" in low-end beefier tone. If I had another Legend I'd swap the TP Jr. out for sure.

That is what was suppose to come in my former Forte 5 but I opted for the EMG-40P5/40J instead. I love the tone of P/J's the best that I've tried. To me they're warmer, can get gritty and articulate.

have you ever used the obp-3 with DC's before? i've thought about swapping out to the 45P's and J's but i sort of like the DC sound, and its the only bass i have with DC's so its a nice variation to me.

I just got asked if I had a return policy on sales? I am not a store and I sell few basses over a year that are just personal use instruments. Do any of you have a "return policy?" The way I think of return policy is a way I have never seen in buying used instruments from private parties........anybody wanna extrapolate?
