SPECTOR® Club - Part 46

So I posted a trade feeler for my Euro 6LX-EX but I figured it bears mentioning in here too.

Literally just want another non-natural type finish Euro 6LX in trade for it. Just never really connected with the natural look on one I have. Not sure how many if you here have a 6LX but if anyone has something and might like the EX instead let me know.

I actually love the way it plays and sounds, and if I can't get an easy even trade for it I might send it for a refin. I'm dreaming about a translucent green-type finish. :bassist:

My spector : )

That is fuc king beautiful!

That one I have running at 9 volts since I wanted to use the existing battery box. I also have a BQC in my Euro 5LX with EMG DC's that I have running at 18 volts.

You just reminded me I need to record some sound clips of it so let me try and do that today. I have actually been thinking about selling it and it would be good to have sound clips to go with the sale thread also. I love this bass but I really don't need this many 5 string basses (I have 4) since I am not even in a band.

I love the idea of being a collector but reality has set in a bit and I am just not in the financial situation to have that luxury yet :)

so does the bqc compliment the dc's well?

Yes, I am working on the Rebop 5 natural now. I have it totally disassembled and have the supplies on order. I am doing a green matte. I am going to stain it with watered down black to get the grain then finish it with green. I am going to try to make a video out of it, if not I have been taking pics of the process.

Sounds cool! I don't have nearly the skill or guts to try it myself especially with it being a neck-through. If anything I'll just send it to Pat Wilkins who did a great job on the Skyline 55-64 I sent him last year.

Now I'm starting to think about purple too. The way I figure, I got the bass in basically brand new condition with the Spector HSC for a little under $1400 shipped. Even if I have to spend $500-$600 on a refin, I would never be able to get a brand new 6LX with a custom finish and case for less than $2K, so I'm going to rationalize it that way if I go ahead with it.

Understand that, I don't have much in the Rebop thanks to some good people here. So with the 18v, pup change, brass nut and fresh stain, should be killer. The neck i'm not sure about yet. Might do a stain fade to natural going up the neck.

Oh nice, I cannot wait to see it when its done. I am a sucker for green matte basses.....for obvious reasons :)

Hey Spector friends,
As some of you know this one (NS-5 FL) has been for sale for a bit.

I am motivated to move this so if you are on the fence, hit me up and maybe we can strike a deal. :)

I am also considering letting this one (NS-2O) go too. :( This is a special bass. It brought me back to playing 4 string which I thought would never happen.

Really looking forward to seeing this process. I have a natural CRFM that I'd love to refinish. Very cool!

I just want to state this fact. The Spector pimp might be kind of quiet lately on this board but he is working in full effect right now :D The magic he is trying to work with me right now is just purely insane but it's actually getting me to think, LOL.

I know I am kind of talking in code right now but I just wanted to let everyone know that the Spector pimp has not diminished in his role one bit :)

Oh yes, most definitely. Here is a clip Sam (Limaguy) made with all of the 5 strings I owned at the time comparing the tone between them. I didn't own the NS-JH5 at the time so that one is not on there unfortunately.

thanks! ill check it out after i get off work. i'm really looking for more tweakablility, which the tone pump doesnt really offer. so it seems from all of the research i've done, mainly due to this thread, that the bqc is the best match for the DC's.
