I just want to state this fact. The Spector pimp might be kind of quiet lately on this board but he is working in full effect right now :D The magic he is trying to work with me right now is just purely insane but it's actually getting me to think, LOL.

I know I am kind of talking in code right now but I just wanted to let everyone know that the Spector pimp has not diminished in his role one bit :)

Yup
I got all kinds of ideas flowing through his mind. Dont be surprised if you see him put something up for sale soon. :hiding:

Nice. Are certain color NS2A's any more valuable than others? I'm expecting my black one to arrive tonight (I'll post pics when I can) and I'm thinking I got a good deal on it. Just hope there's no undisclosed issues with it.

NS-2A's came in Black, White, Red, Sunburst & Teal.

I would say white is the most "valuable" of the bunch and Sunburst is the least.

The BQC is tighter, but I still prefer the 18v Haz, it's close but the Haz has more of an organic sound to my ears.

yeah i've also considered that preamp. ill have to see what ill get my hands on first!

also i have to figure out if ill be able to fit any of these preamps, with all of these weights in my control route. doesnt seem like much room left over with the weights.

thanks! ill check it out after i get off work. i'm really looking for more tweakablility, which the tone pump doesnt really offer. so it seems from all of the research i've done, mainly due to this thread, that the bqc is the best match for the DC's.

If it's tweakability you want, you cannot go wrong with the BQC. I spent 2 hours listening to the subtle differences when adjusting the dip switches for the treble response. Then you factor in that mid sweep knob and you will be busy for hours so that BQC will really give you a ton of extra options. And yes, I think the BQC really is a great match for the DC's.

I will admit, I am not a huge fan of the TW pickups but I left the one in my JH5 just to keep the option to go between single and dual coil mode. Does your JH6 have a DC in it or did you leave the TW pickup installed?

Sounds cool! I don't have nearly the skill or guts to try it myself especially with it being a neck-through. If anything I'll just send it to Pat Wilkins who did a great job on the Skyline 55-64 I sent him last year.

Now I'm starting to think about purple too. The way I figure, I got the bass in basically brand new condition with the Spector HSC for a little under $1400 shipped. Even if I have to spend $500-$600 on a refin, I would never be able to get a brand new 6LX with a custom finish and case for less than $2K, so I'm going to rationalize it that way if I go ahead with it.

Do the refin!! One of a kind Spectors are the coolest (says the guy who already did it)!

At some point, I may refin my 435LX as well.

mine has a pair of DC's. i bought my bass used, as according to spector, these are the original pickups that were purchased for the bass. now as far as these weights in the control route, idk if they are stock, or something added later.

Aw man, that is a gem right there that you own. An NS-JH6 with dual DC's and the possibility of a BQC would just be amazing in my book.

Mine has the TW/J combination which is a really cool combo but I am a huge DC fan so that would sound just amazing. I heard stories of the bolt-ons having neck dive so that might be the reason for the weights in the control cavity but this is the first time I have ever heard of it.

yeah i freaking love this bass, even with the tone pump it sounds amazing, i just wanna see where the BQC would take me tone wise. ill have to email spector and ask about the weights being an issue. also i hear its better to run the BQC on 18v's is that true?

btw here she is "fidellity" in all of her greatness!

Honestly man the trim pot tone pump is my favorite so far, now i havent played the u.s. circuits yet, but have played the clones and still think I would prefer the pump. Hvent played the BQC either, honestly the knobs turn me off, I know petty but i prefer domes or the standard spector knobs.

He works in mysterious ways.
