SPECTOR® Club - Part 47

If I remember right he actually plays an NS-2005, stock iirc. I've also read that he uses halfrounds, but on d'addario's site he's listed as using prosteels. There's a lot of conflicting info on his gear though. The only thing that's certain is that he uses an old sunn tube amp.

Thanks man. The Spector site said he uses a Legend custom which is why I thought that but looking at pictures of his bass, I can now see the difference. Now I need to see what pre the NS-2005 has in it. Just curious since his tone is just amazing.

I have been listening to these guys all weekend and just love their music. I am so glad I got to see them at the Summer Slaughter tour since I am still new with them but their show was just amazing. The odd thing was, Dan faced the drummer pretty much the whole time and wasn't out front like the rest of the band. I have watched a bunch of live clips on YouTube though and he doesn't seem to do that in those. Maybe he was having technical issues.

So... Interesting little development with my Euro tonight. The Volume pot for my neck pup isn't exactly working right. It seems like it's almost working as a tone control instead of a volume control, it does still coil tap though. I checked all the solder points and everything is fine, I'm kind of at a loss since it was working fine a few days ago.

the first time i saw them, they were opening for opeth and dream theater. their "colors" album had recently come out. they went into "viridian" his bass solo piece, and i was amazed. it really showed me how versatile he is. i'm not as huge of a fan as their music, as say opeth. but they are definitely some of the better heavy hitters on the current metal market.

Man, I just watched and listened to that video in amazement. I just can't help but think......how much better he would sound with an NS 2.

KIDDING!!! :)

Very nice tone.

Haha, we'll I guess it would be an NS-5XL then since he pays a 5 string ;-)

That neck would probably be too massive or him though and that is why I think he prefers that 2005. He posted something on the Trioscapes Facebook page saying how he needs to get used to paying the Euro neck since its bigger and he's a pretty tiny dude.

Sweet! Glad to hear that they are working out for you and like you, I am waiting for a coupon to be released so I can try a few sets myself. Judging from their Facebook page, they are going to release another one definitely when they hit 2500 friends but I am not sure how long that will take. I can't wait to try these since I am kind of in string limbo right now.

Coupon code just hit - 17% off. Check the FB page for the code. I just stocked up. :)

Since I live right past the borderline of a evacuation area in NYC and I have been know to have strange disasters happen to me. I have all my USA Spectors packed away in a upper inside closet hopefully as waterproof as possible.

On the positive side, I finally installed the Brass nut on my Fretless NS-2A and have her all setup. So hopefully I will get my fretless chops up this weekend with the battery powered Tascam GB-10.

Everyone on the East Coast stay safe, dry during Hurricane Sandy.

the song is a recent draft of a single my band BearKnuckle is going to release. It was recorded on my Spector NS-JH6 through an EBS Valvedrive set for crunch on the heavy parts and an Eden Wt-800 through two Eden D410T's and i also did the majority of the vocals in the song.

I've always wondered about the EBS Valve Drive... How are you liking it?

My apologies for the mix up with Dan and which bass he plays.

For the record, his amber neck-thru that he uses on the "Buried" albums and tours is an NS-20005 model.
Neck-thru, Korean-Made.

Because of the following he has and the artists who play models no longer offered are not grouped with the current available instruments (at the time we were developing the system for how Spector Artists would have profiles attached to the page which coincides with the model they play), it was decided to place him with the Legend Custom because it was the closest thing available to what he does play.

Dan is a great bassist, very visible and hard-working. And those who really follow his work are very loyal. So it was out of respect that we kept him in the limelight, not any confusion regarding what he plays.

He also has a Euro5LX that he's used on other recordings/projects.
