Originally destined to be PJ Rubal's newest NS-2... #800 features AAAAA Tube Quilt Maple wings hand-selected by PJ for this bass.

He gave me the skinny on it as we set up for BPL! today.

He kept looking at it and saying, "It's a stunner"

And truly it is.

I shot the photos above of it last night. Some other KILLER looking Spectors to come in the next couple of days.

Wow, That bass is beautiful. I really like!!

I just wanted to share that I just got home from my Friday night gig playing A Spector Forte 4 for the first time live. I have been gigging a P bass for a a bunch of years (part time weekend warrior). It was awesome to say the least for me. I should have listened to Todd years ago. The Spector was comfortable to play all night and really seemed to work good in the 3 piece band situation. It was treat to play tonight and I am very happy with it!!

I just bought a used Spector! I have a question, when I tried pulling on the volume knobs, the knobs just come off. It's not push/pull I think. Is that normal?

I've been waiting for my usa 9volt for a couple of months now (hence the bass with no knobs). Apparently they are having trouble getting them. I'm thinking about getting a tone pump and calling it a day.

Tonepump?...Trust me wait for the Haz!!

I just wanted to share that I just got home from my Friday night gig playing A Spector Forte 4 for the first time live. I have been gigging a P bass for a a bunch of years (part time weekend warrior). It was awesome to say the least for me. I should have listened to Todd years ago. The Spector was comfortable to play all night and really seemed to work good in the 3 piece band situation. It was treat to play tonight and I am very happy with it!!

+1. I think the Forte's really are the best-kept Spector secret. After all, you're getting a non-bling, US-made NS2 for well-less than a regular NS2 would set you back.

The only thing inherently missing is the 9v pre but that's an easy enough fix. When they start shipping again, that is.

Agree 100%. I think the Fortes look great. They look like a mean NS2.

It would only be push-pull if it had the EMG-TW pickups (they have orange EMG logos) those pickups have probably been replaced as they appear to have white or silver logos on them so they could be anything really, most likely EMG-DC pickups as that is a popular mod.

Very nice sanding job! You're making me homesick for refinishing! Now ready for the "GREEN/BLACK" stain!

If you are sticking with a stain, I would think a nice dark walnut would be classy, especially if it ends up a fretless.

But if you want to do a solid color, I'd either want white, silver, or big flake silver. Yes, the last one is a little much... white would be cool. And it's a rare sight as well,s o you;d have a very unique thing going on.

Generally quilt bores me but this bass... It's so deep and dark there is so much variation in color there, not just blue black blue black...

Freaking amazing looking bass. I want quilt like THAT!

This NS-4 is the poster bass of what a Spector bass with Maple should look like!

Having major SAS for a Rebop 5DLX to go along with beauty.

I "Normally" don't care for orange or amber but between the beautiful maple flaming...this is really nice Looking! Black hardware would make it look stunning, IMHO!

Dude! This is the sexiest black bass around ever!!! It looks wet 24/7! Are you using the Dunlop 65 polish?

If it was mine I would do a hand rubbed oil finish.
I love the feel of wood.

Probably a transparent black to show the grain and then sand it and go with a color stain and a satin clear.

I've never known that's how you get the amazing colors. First transparent black, sand, add color? So you only lightly sand some of the black off?

A FUN afternoon lined up today! At 3pm our band will be playing a 16 song set as our church is hosting "Celebration Day" for our new U.M.C. Bishop! Our Praise Band leader picked out some really lively jump out of you seats songs for this occasion! Plus I gig tomorrow! Back to back gig days...me loves it!!!

Congratulations on the purchase of your first Spector and welcome to the best club/family on TB! Some control knobs are just pull off, no set screws, if that's what you're asking? Then some do have a set Allen head set screw.

That curly maple is SICK! Looks like a great buy for guitard players! Its a beaut!!!
