You clearly speak about Spector Euro models. I owned two of them before I bought my NS-2 and to be honest I'd keep them both if I had more space where I live:) They are brilliant in terms of value-for-money aspect. No other bass on market can beat this Spector offer IMHO. Go in this direction and you won't be disappointed.

It's a Euro 5lx with black matte stain finish, no inlays and the normal electronics. I want to change the elecs to a blend knob and one volume though, but I am not good at wiring so it'll have to wait.

Just look at the finish! Beautifil!

It plays soooooo great out of the box, better than my ReBop for sure and it has sustain like... like... like nothing I have ever heard before. It's a dream, let me tell you.

Can't wait to get this thing on stage!

Excuse the crappy pictures, it's winter in Norway. I've already forgotten what the sun looks like.

Fantastic choice! Ever since I had the OBP3 in my former Forte 5, I love the tone and adjustability you can get from that preamp. I'll give the OBP 2 a chance that's in the Coda 5 that's coming tomorrow but I'm thinking of putting the OBP 3 in it. I've had both, and even made the OBP 2 into 18V but I like the sound of the OBP 3 that much better.

Yes, I saw those - beautiful basses.
I was specifically looking for something completely different from my other Spectors (Rex5 and Euro 4LX) so I hunted down a bolt on (vs the others with neck thru) and looked for Jazz pickups (vs humbuckers or P/J) and an OBP-3 preamp (vs the BT and Tonepump). The burl walnut top and Special Edition limited run were just frosting on the cake. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. It's a clear departure in tone from either my Euro or Rex. I'm lovin it!
I'm finding the Rex5 very well suited for heavy rock, metal and grunge; the Euro LX well suited for progressive, alternate and newer stuff; and now the NS2-J fitting in perfectly on a lot of my vintage and classic rock work.
And to think, this time last year I had never even tried a Spector or given one much thought. They truly are an addictive bass that over delivers in fit, finish, build quality, tone, playability, feel and looks. And the kicker is they do it in just about every price range you can imagine all the way from beginner basses to insane custom jobs. Great company, great products and great service. Glad I found them.

Wow Supes! Nostalgia time again! I owned a forum IV and swapped out the Spector pickups for the EMGs. I remember seeing an old spec sheet catalog publication a few months back that was in a stack of old magazines and I remember how badly I wanted the Forum I because of the cooler inlays and the neck through construction. Alas, bussing tables at Bennigans didn't get me past the IV. And that was as close as I ever got to owning a Sector for years. But I could almost swear that they were using EMG BT preamps in the higher end forum series. As fallible as I am, I may have remembered that wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Forum 1 & 2 had an EMG active pre and EMGs while the III and IV had Spector Pickups with vol/vol/tone/tone; a fully passive layout.

Now you've got me wanting to cruise eBay again for one of the old catalogs again. :hiding:

I'm watching out for that post. I really like the Coda and cant wait to see some reviews or hear some sound clips. Someone a few pages back just got a beautiful tangerine one (love that color). I think he was planning on putting up a review soon. Congrats on the new addition, I'm sure it will be everything you expected and more.

They are addictive. I had played the same two basses for 15 years (which means I hadn't bought a bass in 15 years). I bought my first spector a year ago. Now I have 3. I check the classifieds every day looking for more (even though I don't have any money) I see that pattern over and over in this group.

Once you buy one Spector, you want to buy all the Spectors.

One doesn't "find" Spectors, they find you!

Agreed. I bought my Rebop in April of this year after drooling over Mike Kroeger's MK5 for 3-4 months. The tone was EXACTLY what I was looking for. 5 months later, I dabbled with a Fender P-5, fell in love, fell out of love, and now want to sell it & get another Spector.
I'm hoping I can find a buyer quick & get my hands on another Rebop, a Legend or 2, or (if I'm lucky) a Euro 5.

Holy crap Brad!!! That's the lowest price I've ever seen on a Euro. I wonder if there's anything wrong with it. After my "rescue puppy" Czech SSD, I'm very, very cautious with the Craigs List stuff. But for that price alone, you could buy that and USA 9v for it and still be under $1000 for what is essentially a European NS-2. Tremendous deal.
