yeah I was actually really surprised with my 55-94. usually the "F style" basses (at least IME) don't lend themselves to downtuning or a B string that really excels compared to the basses aforementioned. it's a real quality piece but i'm about to start gigging my NS-5 again exclusively and move the Lakky. kinda need the $$

My Fender Am Std P-5 has a solid B. I use a .130 flatwound. It's about the same as my Rebop with a .126.

Love the Aggie in my NS-5MM. Didn't love the EMG, though...she sports a Bart now. Much better!

NS-2J now has DiMarzio Area J's. HUGE improvement.

Nice basses! Love the finish on the MM pu bass. I'm about a heartbeat away from aquisition of a new USA NS2J. What didn't you like about the stock emg pickups? How do the DiMarzio's differ and what on board preamp does your 2J have?

I played my SR5 regularly for almost a decade before I got my first Euro. I thought the B was fine but then again I always used a 135 nickel XL so that probably helped. I am playing my SR5's much less now though.

I always tended to set up my B on fivers about a 32th of an inch higher than the E string. I tended to only play notes from the fourth fret down so it didn't bother as much that the action was higher. but the added "effective" scale length seemed to help with the focus and tension. good ol' Pythagorean theorem at work.

I think I might have to try that. I'm still playing a NS 95 and always wanted more of a 35" scale B sound. So long as I don't over tension the already stressed stress rod.

I like it! I am thinking of getting a fEARful cab sometime next year! I have a DNA 112N which is a really nice cab, but I'm definitely interested in the fEARful 15/6 or 15/6/1! I've got a guy local who builds them and he said I could come by when my 5 string gets here and try out some of his demos! CANT WAIT!

Some people like them, some don't.....Different strokes and all. Definitely go check it out for yourself and forget your old EQ, use your ears and turn the knobs till it sounds good. Part of why I built mine was that I could buy parts over time while building the cab. Kind of like making payments to myself. I really dig mine but the 18sound mid really can be too aggressive if your not careful. (I dig that) I have a mid pad on mine so depending on whether I'm using a sub under it or it's really close to ear level I can pad it back without doing any EQing. I sold my 12/sub and am building a 15/sub right now to go under it. Just wanted a little more umph when I need to go to 11.
