I don't want to turn this into a rush geek-a-thon, but they played analog kid on the clockwork Angels tour when I saw them in Charlotte he even said "we never play this". it was awesome.

they're just lucky I didn't pick by-tor and the snowdog.

You know I just can't get into the first three records. It's not like I hate it, but it doesn't get me going like the stuff from Permanent Waves through Counterparts. I like the keyboard stuff - it adds to the sound.

But yeah, it seems like every classic Rush fan I've met either asks for Bytor or Necromancer.

Funny thing I used to do all the drop D QR stuff on my Stingray 5. It definitely took a little more concentration subbing the 3rd fret B for the open D but it actually sounded fine with the OD on. This is back when I didn't have too many basses, so I didn't want to tune it weird like DEADG just for that band. The SR5 was my main bass.

Now if I had been playing Spector back then, I would definitely gotten a 4-string with a droptuner. I'm ready now!

I had a drop tuner on my NS-4 and I took the thing off. I just could not keep that thing in tune no matter what I tried. I watched the video on the Hipshot site and still couldn't get it but I am sure it was user error.

Nothing wrong with making this a rush geek-a-thon My latest thing is trying to get that opening riff for Anthem down smooth. That is a quick little riff that I tend to keep stumbling on.

sorry to get off topic, but what rush do you cover. we always do one cover per show. I've finally convinced my guys to do a Rush song with "the trees" since it's my turn to pick.

We plant one of these Rush tunes in the set: Distant Early Warning, Red Barchetta, or Tom Sawyer...but I have been avoiding Tom Sawyer to give it a rest.

FYI both of my kids are indoctrinated. my 13 and 11 year old sing an awful "closer to the heart" rendition each morning on the way to school. my son demands that I put it on the stereo every day.

I've been away from here for a while... I probably have to read through this entire thread to catch up!

I officially joined "The Mighty One" and moved my rig to their studio. I am now running 2x 210 cabs and my ideal scenario is finally realized. One 410 is running a dirty channel from my Sansamp RPM and the other 410 clean channel from my 4-Pro.
I plugged in, warmed up and the rest of the dudes:
It sounds like a 8.7 earthquake (I know as I've been though one). Absolutely MASSIVE!
The band amps everything to get the stage vibrations happening and also we use In-Ear monitors which is simply awesome!! On that note, I am looking for a Shure PSM200 if anyone has one and selling, let me know

We have a show coming up on April 12th, my biggest one thus far (that's not saying much...) which I am VERY excited about as it's in a really cool old theatre and so there should be plenty of ambiance! I'll make sure to get some videos of that show and post them up!

I officially joined "The Mighty One" and moved my rig to their studio. I am now running 2x 210 cabs and my ideal scenario is finally realized. One 410 is running a dirty channel from my Sansamp RPM and the other 410 clean channel from my 4-Pro.
I plugged in, warmed up and the rest of the dudes:

Not really a Scotch fan. Why can't they be like women, or a metal band with a female vocalist. I can get behind those.

IceBoxBass,whats your overall opinion of the DCs somewhat scooped tone in a 5string,neck thru Euro or other vs. the 35P and 35J you had in your Spector (Forte5) from the past?.... before the SICK USA Coda 5banger ya ROCK know

I have not played the DC pups yet. All the 5r's I've played so far had either HZs or 40P5/40J or J/J. I'm thinking about going DC/DC or 40P/DC on my NS-20005. DeluucaJohn is one to give you info on the DCs.

Go with dual 40J! The sound I'm getting out of my Bop is unbelievable! I can't NOT have that bass plugged in. lol

I have the white Brooklyn with the drop tuner, I can get it to tune and work but any small adjustment and it's a pain in the a$$ to get back. I have concluded that they are not for me. I can pretty much tune up or down a step by hand without a tuner quicker and not have to worry if I knocked the tuner or adjustment screw.
