The Kramer NS-5's will be a bit different since they have J/J pickups and not P/J like the NS-2. They sound great though and here is an example of one

Yeah, Mindcrime is pretty much required listening for anyone even if you aren't a fan of metal. That CD holds up to this day and pretty much every song is just amazing. I still get chills when listening to Suite Sister Mary.

Thanks John! Better than Ezra bass player rocks it with a pretty good tone. Yeah I'm going to order that Queensriche album, Mind rime, check it out! I'm not a Metals fan at all...I like the music mostly but the singers (?) to me it's just growling, yuck. :scowl:

I have not played the DC pups yet. All the 5r's I've played so far had either HZs or 40P5/40J or J/J. I'm thinking about going DC/DC or 40P/DC on my NS-20005. DeluucaJohn is one to give you info on the DCs.

I've been away from here for a while... I probably have to read through this entire thread to catch up!

I officially joined "The Mighty One" and moved my rig to their studio. I am now running 2x 210 cabs and my ideal scenario is finally realized. One 410 is running a dirty channel from my Sansamp RPM and the other 410 clean channel from my 4-Pro.
I plugged in, warmed up and the rest of the dudes:
It sounds like a 8.7 earthquake (I know as I've been though one). Absolutely MASSIVE!
The band amps everything to get the stage vibrations happening and also we use In-Ear monitors which is simply awesome!! On that note, I am looking for a Shure PSM200 if anyone has one and selling, let me know

We have a show coming up on April 12th, my biggest one thus far (that's not saying much...) which I am VERY excited about as it's in a really cool old theatre and so there should be plenty of ambiance! I'll make sure to get some videos of that show and post them up!

My first real concert was Queensryche too, when they opened for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour at the Meadowlands sometime in 1988. The first and only time I ever saw Steve Clarke live...

Mine too! Small world. I was a big Def Leppard fan at the time ('87) and knew little of Queensryche. Eddie Jackson came out and changed all that. I was so impressed with his tone (and the fact that the songs were so driven off the bass line which was very rare in 80's hair metal) that I went out the next day and bought Operation Mindcrime.

Saw Queensryche 2 or 3 more times after that (saw the Empire tour twice because they played Mindcrime in its entirety). Still one of the best "shows" I've been to.

@ Fat420. I am still working with Winter Of Freedom, but not as much as before. The Mighty One is my priority now and there seems to be things in the works for a bright future... I'll share when details are confirmed

I think I'm the only one here who can't name a rush track...don't think I've ever listened to them.

Geddy Lee has so many awesome bass lines that even if you're not a fan you can appreciate it. Two of my favorite Rush Songs are "Big Money" and "Show Don't Tell". I own every album through Presto but really haven't listened to any of their stuff since.

Nothing wrong with making this a rush geek-a-thon My latest thing is trying to get that opening riff for Anthem down smooth. That is a quick little riff that I tend to keep stumbling on.

Hahaha, how about Rush Geek Week? I've been on a total Rush kick this week. Jammit will do that to you. My new NS4-H2, for whatever reason, makes me want to play Rush.

You know Promised Land definitely has its moments. "Damaged" and the title track are great tracks, and most of the songs are pretty good. To me that was their last great record. I'm really hoping I can amend that statement to "until this new record with Todd LaTorre".

Agreed. Promise Land is a good record. It's too bad bands get brushed aside after masterpieces can't be repeated. On its own, this record is damn good, just not one of those extra special records.

I prefer mindcrime as a whole. But the tone on Jet City Women is AWESOME!!!!!!

I also really dig the vibe of Della Brown, such a cool laid back song.

Here is our very own Carlton playing a NS-2J prototype 1997. When I first say this, it was actually one of the first times I knew I was listening to a Spector and I knew I had to get me some Spector tone.

YES! I remember seeing this same video awhile back. An awesome example of the NS-2J...Carlton has the talent and mojo to make it growl!!!
