Loving the Eddie J tone!!!!
I miss my VooDoo Lab Sparkle Drive so much, totally recorded that vibe with its BLEND knob accurately!
If any club member wants to TRADE me a VL Sparkle Drive for a TonePump Trimpot Pre,lemme know!!
I miss that overdrive pedal more than ANY bass overdrive specific pedal out there,HIGHLY underrated!!! But that said,I did acquire a TP Trim for sale if anyone wants to upgrade theyre current PREamp.
On another note,to ANTON,I too struggled w my Spectors weight thru the years and have to say,10lbs isnt too bad with the right strap. But my old Rebop was super close in the Spector tone depo to the Euro neck thru's,and crazy lite!!
I dont think all Spectors have to be heavy to get their tone across, but it seems to help me.
BrotherBass Jamie,Im having wet dreams about your Ian Kill's neck and want your Rex if you part ways!!
IceBoxBass, whats your overall opinion of the DCs somewhat scooped tone in a 5string,neck thru Euro or other vs. the 35P and 35J you had in your Spector (Forte5) from the past?.... before the SICK USA Coda 5banger ya ROCK know
Deluca, your opinion is SUPER important to me as well, if ya can drop some science on this old matter,I just want half Rex's Spector tone and Dougs "Stain" era tone from my Euro5LXs double DCs and am having trouble finding those crazy punchy upper mids?
My Euro5LX has the USA 18vt pre...
Do I need a mid knob or maybe a different DC housed EMG pickup like the P or J offerings? Thanks in advance to ANYone's input, especially LIMA,hint,hint..
:)

Some time ago I got a beautiful Euro from Jeffplaysbass. Solid maple wings, solid brass bridge(the non shiny one). The wings are beautiful and I want to go with a matte finish. Ever since I got my Forte, I've become a fan of matte finishes. Here it is in progress.

Seth, the Ian Hill is going North I'm pretty sure, its sold pending paypal money. As far as the Rex goes, I'm gonna dial it in a bit, after that, maybe..............because I might have enough to score a true NS-2? Also Mike Cooper (fat240) and John Deluca, have both had great success with putting a emg P housed pickup in conjunction with their DC at the bridge and both say it sounds GREAT.......the 18 volt USA pre is all about CLEAN headroom........if you want the GRIND, you will have to try another preamp of use a pedal....
What the F#%$!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
Just wait.......remember how cool the forte turned out! I'm sure Brother Ho will show us a magical bass when this one gets finished!
I don't believe in love is such a cool 'Drop D' riff....I just wished it went over in the clubs we play so we can add it back to the set list!
Put it in there anyway! All cover bands are aloud at least ONE song THEY like to play......lol
OH MAN...don't be fooling with a guy! lol

Yeah Jim.......I know that bass has a super skinny neck from what I've been told! Quit teasing Mr. Jim K! :D

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang that tone

I've somehow never listened to either of these guys (I'm young so sue me) despite listening to other bands from the era.

But maaaaaan that toooooone, I really need to get a tube head for some real OD so I can get something punchy and grungy similar to that delightful tone there.

Very NICE! I'm 54 and I've not heard those songs! :ninja: I got listen to the first song, second wont load on mobile, but WOW! That angry, hungry, growly Spector NS-2 tone is so there! It makes me want to buy a Kramer NS-2 but I'm afraid I'd miss playing my 5r and it'd sit not being played much. :bawl: Can the NS-5 Kramers get this same tone? Carlton??? BTW Carlton, I wish I had the dough to buy your SSD!!! It's gorgeous!

Run..........don't walk........to your nearest music CD store or itunes and get it NOW>>>>>>>>>NOW>>>>>>>NOW:hyper::hyper::hyper:

The Kramer NS-5's will be a bit different since they have J/J pickups and not P/J like the NS-2. They sound great though and here is an example of one

Yeah, Mindcrime is pretty much required listening for anyone even if you aren't a fan of metal. That CD holds up to this day and pretty much every song is just amazing. I still get chills when listening to Suite Sister Mary.

Don't ever trust..........don't ever trust the needle.....IT LIES :bassist::bassist::bassist:

I like the WHOLE album.....also like Rage for Order, heck I still have the EP on Casette? (what's that?)

I was in a cover band about 7 years ago that did a lot of 70s-90s stuff and my singer wanted to add that song. I was like I love it but it won't go over in a set with Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, etc.

Now when I used to play in a QR tribute, yeah it went over. :)

I will add Empire to that mix. Mindcrime is the better record, but Empire has much better sound, and the bass really shines on that one.

The recorded sound might be better, however, Empire kinda let me down after Mindcrime......I liked every song on Mindcrime.....on Empire....maybe every other? Either or....live in the 90's Queensryche had almost unmatched tone performances live.....they were spot on!

I saw them open for Metallica.....a long time ago.....LONG TIME

I probably have my cassette buried somewhere in this house but I am sure it is worn out :) I bought the re-issue when it came out on CD since it had the Live in Tokyo show on there which really is a great show. I used to have that on VHS and lent it to someone and never got it back so I am pissed since they never put that out on DVD.

I love all of their CD's up until Empire. The first one, Warning, Rage for Order, Mindcrime, they are all just amazing to me. Empire I grew to like over the years but anything after that, I am not familiar with.

I know when I first bought Empire when it came out, I was also let down that it wasn't as dark as Mindrcrime or Rage, but for some reason it still gelled with me pretty quickly. I love the guitar work and drumming.

That was my first concert ever - Empire tour. Mindcrime in full. And front row. :) I think they would have shot the Livecrime video there, but Pam Moore was sick that night so they had to use canned tracks for her. They wound up using the Madison show I think.

You know Promised Land definitely has its moments. "Damaged" and the title track are great tracks, and most of the songs are pretty good. To me that was their last great record. I'm really hoping I can amend that statement to "until this new record with Todd LaTorre".

I will have to give that CD a listen. I admit, I only heard one song which was "I am I" and I just wasn't a fan to be honest.

I am really looking forward to this new CD with Todd I have to say.

Queensryche is awesome, but Operation Mindcrime II is the best album they've ever done. The sequel album is WWAAAYYY better than the original Mindcrime.

I KID, I KID!! Mindcrime II is a huge turd. Heck, anything after Promised Land is a turd if you ask me. Chris DeGarmo made Queensryche, and Tate has turned into a huge douche. Has anyone been following the whole saga lately? There are now TWO Queensryches.
