I love Eddie Jackson's tone on Operation:Mindcrime. One of, if not THE reason I have wanted a Spector for 20+ years. Also, Early Skid Row sounded great.

Eddie, along with Johnny Lee Middleton, (bassist for the metal band Savatage), are the main reasons I, after 25 years of lusting for, finally, own a Spector NS-2.

Some time ago I got a beautiful Euro from Jeffplaysbass. Solid maple wings, solid brass bridge(the non shiny one). The wings are beautiful and I want to go with a matte finish. Ever since I got my Forte, I've become a fan of matte finishes. Here it is in progress...

So cool.

Your orange Forte is one of my favorite re-fins of all time, so I'll be watching this project with great anticipation.

I always loved Eddie's tone in Queensryche! Unfortunately I couldn't find that in my euro p/j basses, even one equipped with a modern 9 volt circuit. I am guessing I need a Kramer era ns2 or maybe even earlier. I do know my ears prefer the earlier circuit after playing both, maybe it's no different.....maybe it is? One day I will own an American ns2...... I might not keep it, but at least I owe that to myself?

Or maybe it's just me.....don't torch me over it, but I have yet to "get it" when it comes to the NS-2. My ears prefer the NS-4......no offense because apparently I'm in a club of 1 on that....lol


Maybe I need to sweet talk Coop into loaning me a NS-2 for a while.....I have collateral he likes.....grin

I could manage that, pick a color and stop by. I am looking forward to getting the double box bass back. Sould be ready around the end of May, as he is pretty busy. Gonna be a long few months

That'll work... I like your new friend, the cutaway is the only way to go. I wish they offered the cut away on the ForteX models.

I can't put this book down Let's just say he probably won't have too many friends after they start reading this book, LOL. Especially Vinnie Paul.

I used to want a Kramer NS-2 in the worst way but after playing a few of them, the necks are just too small for me. To me, nothing beats the neck of my NS-4 and NS-5 from Woodstock but I am definitely one of the few that likes the thicker necks.

After hearing the isolated Queensryche tracks from Jammit, Eddie Jackson definitely had some type of overdrive added to his tone so I would think that would be tough to nail with just a Kramer NS-2 but hey, what do I know

It looks like I might have something new coming in the very near future so if that does, the NS-4 might go back to being a DC/DC bass. Your club might go up to 2 if that is the case

Hey guys. Maybe a strange question. But does anyone here hage a ns 2000 and a rebop, or played both. Which did u like better. For some reason I like the sound of the ns better. More deeper.

Yeah I've had both ReBop 4/5 DLX and currently a NS-20005. I do prefer the NS-20005 over the ReBops because of the bigger, smoother tones. The ReBop 4DLX I had last fall sounded great because the pups were changed out to 35P/J's, gave it a smoother and aggressive low & mids, more punch. I'm usually a Neckthru player but I'm loving my Coda 5XL...she has an ATTITUDE!

Oh yeah, there's some OD there. I can get my Euro LX with the BQC and PJ-X pups sounding close with the B3K dialed in. It's on my little GK MB112 II, so it might not sound quite so close on a big rig, but works nice for me.

Man, that TONE, that tone. Every time I hear that early EJ stuff on Queensryche it gets me going. When he's banging that E there is nothing better......NOTHING. Dang I love these basses. Thanks SD for posting.

it was eddie jackson at first and then mike starr's tone really did it for me. too bad i cant afford that tone but im 75% with the tone pump in my ns94. it's close, but not as bad ass. love mike starr's tone especially on this song. so awesome!!!
