I would think a manager could give a discount on the damage so you can at least order direct and get the parts your needing, I have never had a problem with M.F. like this Bunk and I hope you get the problem solved.

You'd think that but they basically were no help. I called the Monday and told them what happened. I offered to keep it if they discount it and send me the part. All they wanted to do was have me wait 3 weeks until the new ones come in. I told them if that's all they want to do they can have the amp back now. Only then did they start to say they could try to get the part.

So I told the guy I better get a call back either way by Wednesday to let me know where things stand. He told me he'd "definitely" call me back either way on Wednesday. As you might have guessed, Wednesday came and went with no contact. So I had to waste more of my time calling someone there yesterday and I just told them to setup the return. The guy was like "oh man that's too bad, sorry" but made no effort to actually do something about it. Then they even had the nerve to suggest the shipping I paid won't be refunded. I laughed and told him they will get a chargeback for it if I don't see it in a week. Only then did he say he could do it.

So it's all packed up and ready for pickup. Oh and I had to pay $9 out of my own pocket for UPS to come get it. I can't fit it in my car with it in the box so I had to do that.

So then I tweeted about my experiences (and I never tweet) and then someone offered to "make it right". It shouldn't take a public complaint for that to happen. It's too late now.

After this and the way they handled sending me the wrong item four months ago, not to mention the half dozen problems I've had with them over the years including the wrong bass being shipped, I'm done being lured by 15% off coupons. Honestly if you haven't had problem, you just haven't had one yet.

Oh and I talked to a guy I haven't even dealt with before at Sweetwater. They don't even do price matching but he offered me the cab at the same discount even though for them it's a special order item. It's already setup with no hassle. And those guys WILL call you back when they say they will.

D'Addario has recently extended their winding length on their strings (XL's, I know for sure) and they should fit 35 inch scale top load basses now and 34 inch scale thru body basses.

Yep! I talked with Jason from bassstringsonline and he confirmed that the XL strings will now fit 35" scale Spectors! ...needless to say this is great news for me as I personally love the D'Addario XL nickels!

Got this in late last night; finally had the chance to put through it's paces today. Previous owner swapped out for DCs and it has the Korean Haz copy.

All I can say is....O...M...G... now I know what the fuss is about. I have the feeling this one will be getting some significant playing time before my EX-Wide ships...probably around July / August... :crying:

Thanks to Michael, who put in the good word about this bass. Probably the best "$500 bass" I've purchased here in my time on TB.

Borrowing pic from previous owner until next Spector thread...

Beautiful! I love gloss black! I'm glad you're loving it. :D Congrats! :bassist:

Phat, that is one sexy looking Popular Burl sixer! Drool drool! :D

Regular Long Scale D'Addarios will work on some 35" scale basses depending on the bridge (i.e. how much length is used from the anchor point to the saddle witness point).

Not Spector as the outer winding won't quite make it over the nut on a 35" scale Spector.
(Not sure about this new balanced tension series)

As a 20+ year D'Addario user, the other problem is, if you use the Super Longs on a Spector 5 or 6, the low B's outer winding is way too long and starts to wrap around the post.
(The reasons this is bad are numorous and far too in depth to re-type here. Search)

This is what I do to keep the extra outer winding wrap off my tuning post:
SpectorEuro6LX4.jpg

It's hard to see, but there's a metal tube around the string by the ball that backs the string up to keep the excess thick outer winding off the tuning post.
I actually now use ones that are about twice the length as the one shown here.

I've actually lobbied D'Addario to simply extend the outer wrap on their regular Long Scale XL sets 1/4".
This would not make a difference for the rest of the 34" scale users, but would clear up this problem for 35" scale 5 and 6 string Spector (and maybe others....Warwick? :hiding:) users.

Delucajohn has down a lot of experimenting on his ReBop with changing out the pickups. Got it to sound really great. Contact him. He's always glad to help out. I had a ReBop 4 DLX last Nov. and it was modded with EMG 35P/35J pickups and it sound awesome! A couple years ago I had a ReBop 5 DLX with the standard HZ pickups and it wasn't the tone that I was looking for. I'd say I'm more of a P/J or P bass player. Good luck! :bassist:

Hey guys kinda 3 fold question.

1. I have a rebop which I really like except sound. I own a ns2000 and igs way boomier or bassy sou ding wiyhe hz is I it. I find the rebop to be powerful but lacking bottom boom. What would suggestion be to fix it . Or am I better of selling for a euro.

2. Second thought am getting a lil money that may allow me to step up to euro but also wouldnt be against a ns 2 a. Any thoughts and idea on this. I cant break bank since I just had a financial car disaster. But I have a few things to sell and if I cant work out rebop sound I wouldnt be against trading it or selling it.

Thanks I know long winded and involved but kind scratching head
+1! :bassist: :D If you're a 4 string player you won't go wrong with a NS-2A! Had one, awesome! :bassist:
I'm possitive there will be a lot of suggestions on what you can do with the rebop so keep checking back, as far as the question on the NS2a...look at the post from JPSBassist about one that was just purchased, I also own a 1987 no serial number NS2a and to tell the truth I would never sell this bass because it has held up great. I was even looking at some of the refinish work being done in the posts and thinking about getting another NS2a to build,refinish...JPSBassist turned his into a fretless!

I love dealing with Sweetwater! The assigned salesman always calls me after shipping and follows up to see if I'm pleased with the item and if I need any help like setting up and using the computer recording interface. A plus for me is they're directly south of Michigan so it ships fast to me. I will not buy from MF just because of their lousy packing they did with a very rare exotic Brazilian Cocoa Bola wood acoustic bass that I bought and received destroyed. :scowl: :atoz:  :bawl: And like you Andrew, I had to terrorize them to make it right! It should t be like that. :ninja:

for all you circle K guys, you might want to try the new d'addario balanced tension sets and save some money.... I love them.

i got a set of the helix's a while back and just absolutely love them. granted the e and a have the tapered core, but they sound terrific and still sounds brand new. i havent played them for too long, but they are great. i really like them.

Sorry to hear you're departing with your Legend :( Getting funds together for another Euro?

believe it or not, for a 5 string ;)

Agreed. Whoever turned you onto those was SMART!

You cannot beat XL's! Quality and tone exceed their price!

The Helix were a very interesting string to try. I found that I liked them a lot, but if I ever do go with them again, I'm gonna order a more balanced feeling set.

Sometimes I think it's a miracle my first Spector, a Euro 5LX arrived safely and actually packed in the case I ordered for it. I guess I was tempting fate on that one.

Yeah it's nice being in the region for them.

It sounds like Musicians Friend better take notice and start serving the customer a lot better, I'm glad that our local music stores will match the MF price even with the discount and that's how I have purchased my last two basses!

So I finally got to play my NS2A with the MM114. This was in a worship setting using my BDDI direct to the board and out the monitors. So this may have colored the sound a little. Although I think it may have sounded a little cleaner than my Tonepump, it sounded AWESOME!!!!!:hyper:

Really cut through the mix onstage. It was very full and present with just a touch of grind when I dug in. I'm hoping to get some recordings off the board this Sunday that will give me an idea how it sounds out front. I really wish I had recorded my bass with the TP so I could compare. I guess the only real way is down the road to by another NS2A and have 1 with each pre. As soon as I get my Legend 5 refinish I'm popping the TP in that just to see how it sounds.

Once again Spector for the win!!!:bassist::bassist:
