Sometimes I think it's a miracle my first Spector, a Euro 5LX arrived safely and actually packed in the case I ordered for it. I guess I was tempting fate on that one. :lol:

Yeah it's nice being in the region for them.

yep! I figure they're inexpensive because of the whole economy of scale thing. they make and sell a but load of strings, every retail store carries them. if you know your product is gonna move then you can operate on lower margins. doesn't mean the quality is any lower.

The ProSteels are great, but my strings of choice are the Ritter Swordsteels. Pretty expensive, but amazing string-to-string balance and a really long life.

Hey, have you guys ever used the Black Beauties on your Spectors?

Which Spectors, & How did they work out for you??

I tried them on my former Legend 4 Classic. I'm not a round wound string player so I thought the DR black beauties would be a good compromise. I bought them only slightly used from LimaGuy (Sam). Just didn't do it for me. But, seventh loves these and low riders on his Forte 4. I'm a true blue Flats player, that's all. I can dial in whatever sound I want/need with GHS Precision SS FWs. People tend to think Flats are woody and thumpy sounding...not true with Stainless Steel. They'll bark and growl when you dig into them. Plus they are silky smooth feeling! Love em!!!

You got that right! The same with GHS..."Boomers" are every where in retailers. Plus a bonus for me is that I'm supporting my States economy as they're made right here in Battlecreek, Michigan.

I have been using Ernie Ball hybrid slinky roundwound #2833 strings (45, 65, 85, 105).

Getting ready for a full weekend of music, got practice at 10 this morning for Easter Sunday and then load in this evening starts at 4:30 for tonights show...dreading the load in because it will be up a full set of about 20 steps, going to at least get my exercise in! lol

I live near Munich, Bavaria. It's hard to almost impossible to make a living out of original Metal music here in Germany. I don't know if this is any different at your place.

Good Info. Thanks, Ice I'll give those GHS SSs a whirleyround after I get these BBs on and off. Right now I've got Rotosteels on the ForteX ... they're finally settled in, but I'm having trouble taming the highs.

I have a question for you Spectorites regarding the Legend 4 string. The Spector site lists maple as the body wood and top wood but most of the retailers have basswood with a maple top listed. So which is it?

Thank you a lot! The Ritter strings only come in 122-102-82-62-42, but as I said, perfectly balanced. I used GHS Super Steels Medium Light on Impetus though, if I remember correctly.

I play in a cover band and we book a couple of shows each month, we all still have day jobs and music is just extra money to help us buy our next guitar, bass, etc.

I do live close to a place called Branson Missouri which has a lot of music theaters but some theaters/artists like to use recorded music rather than pay for musicians.

I bet Gene Fox has it. He owns around 10 Kramer NS-5's and since only like 80 of them were made, it's a good chance he has it

In all fairness, I should say that they eventually made good by me. I pitched a fit to my sales rep., and he knocked off an additional $220 on the Gibson SG bass I ordered several months later. Still, I spent a long time talking to him after the synth fiasco, letting him know exactly what I thought of their customer service practices.

Most places have insurance for all the stuff they ship on UPS/Fedex (some even try to get you to pay for insurance) yet they want to hassle you knowing that this form of shipment method doesn't care about whats in the box, they only care about how many boxes they can stuff inside the truck and let you deal with the damage...they should never hassle the customer...silly!

I have to disagree with Ice, here. Doesn't happen often. But my DR Black Beauties were the best strings I've had (up until my Sunbeams). Couldn't kill them. Really brought out my ReBop and eventually my NS-2000's sound. Tension was good, the low B was solid with a .125. Great strings!!

OK. may have been 004... It was written in Pencil in the Truss rod cutout area and difficult to read....
Mine was a refin by Kramer Factory ( i got it when it was BLACK) ...
It was out to possibly Whitesnake or someone else before they turned it over to me.

I know it wasn't 001 as it went to Will Lee and it was Candy Apple Red.
