FACEBOOK - aw, man, it didn't occur to me to check for a FB page.... very nice. Spector's web page is already one of the most informative in the industry.

The Facebook page is excellent; Patrick (JPSBassist) posts a ton on there, and he is an absolute wealth of information. Plus, several of the Spector-endorsed artists participate in discussions and post lots of goodies.

Brought my rig home to fiddle with my tone. The TonePump was hammering the front end into distortion. Probably would sound godly through a SVT, Not so much through my 800RB. I played with the output on the Pump a bit lowered the input volume and raise the low master, but there was no way to clean it up. Tossed 2 new 9 Volts in it just to be safe, Nothing. Then I remembered there was a 10db pad on the input, LOL

This thing pounds now. I cant hammer the front end like I did with my passive Fenders but I dont need too. I also went through my pedal board Added my M80 and MXR 10 band so theres more fiddling to do.\

Local Guitar Center has a 810E, A SVT Classic and a 7Pro and a 1001RB. Im gonna have to bring Rex down and give them a whirl.

yup always use that pad. My carvin b1500 is the first amp I've used that I didn't need to pad the input.

WARNING! Do not plug your Rex into that SVT unless you are prepared to drop large sums of money.

The SVT classic is a tube amp I wouldn't mind having in the collection. that and the new fender bassman pro head

Plug the 1001 through the svt.

I love the 1001rb/svt810 combo.... soo killer

+1 On the Aggie 412. I have one and it rocks!

yep. I've downsized to the GS212, but I was running my Brooklyn NS2 into a Mesa Bass400+ and an Aguilar GS412 and it was freaking amazing. better even than the old DB810 I had.

another great sounding yet completely unsung cab is the Hartke Hydrive 810. one of the best sounding 810's I've ever heard. even better in my ears than the aggie DB series.

Try a dually or a bergantino nv215. You will be amazed. An aguilar 412 is also very tastey!!!!

I was looking at the berg nv610 also or adding a second gk neo 212 to the one I have.

I normally leave 3 or 4 wraps around the post on each string, but on my basses with the Hipshot D-tuners, I only leave 2 wraps around the E-string post - I believe this allows for less chance of string stretching, due to less available excess string behind the nut.

This solved my problem, I had 3.5-4 wraps on the post, now I only have 2 wraps and as long as I flip it up and down a few times when I'm tuning the E, it works perfectly.

Really thinking about trying the JPS set up with the aggie th 500 and two of the aggie SL112 s . Very compact light and I'm assuming powerful enough for those smaller venues.....

I love my HyDrive cabinets. That's why I endorse them. I have the 410 & 115 and they are really solid. Was never a big fan of the XL cabs, but they nailed it with the HyDrives.

Yep, 2 to 3 wraps tops for the detuners. Any more than that and it's a little too much "slop" to take in/out. Graphite or pencil lead on the E nut slot helps a lot too. Enjoy the quick flick of Drop D.

The hydrive 410s are sealed aren't they ? What about the 810 ?

Yeah. My understanding is that the 810 is essentially 4 sealed 210 cabs.

THAT is my old Forte 5! That price is a steal!!! I paid $1K more than the asking price. Wish I could buy it back... One of the most beautiful sounding basses I've played.

I followed LimaGuy's link and it brought me to an iPhone APP. Installed it...the highest edition was #10 but the article was in it. IMHO, some of the ratings where average...really surprised by those. But I'm not impartial either.

If I buy a Coda Deluxe, I'll need it to be versatile as far as my tone requirements are concerned - I want to be able to cop the vintage sparkly tones that my Geddy Lee Jazz can get, but I also want it to be able to cover the heavy original material that my NS-2 & NS-4 currently handle. I know it won't sound exactly like those basses (kind of the point, eh?), but I still need it to have the beefy low end & aggressive tone required for metal.
I agree that the Aggie OBP-2 could work, and if for some reason it can't be paired with the EMGs, I would have to decide between the Bartolinis, the Nordstrands or the Aggie noiseless 1970's single-coils. Either that, or pair the EMGs with a Tonepump (provided Spector would build it).
Looks like I have some thinking & research to do....

I had borrowed a Geddy Lee from a buddy of mine last fall for 2 months. The Coda 5XL DLX eats it for LUNCH. There is not a tone that this Jazz bass cannot produce it has such a HUGE tonal palette. This has been the best Bass I've played by far, to date. When I get more battery harnesses this week I'll be modding it to 18V. When I did this to my former Forte 4 you could dial aggressive tones all day or dial it back for deep mellow tones. I'm way over due to making a recording with the Coda. I'll see if I can free some space up this week, so you can hear the tonal range of it. (Coming from a retired guy ) After my Sunday morning gig today I received several compliments on the Coda's tone and performance. I get them every time I gig. With me playing CCM genre I need what you're saying...deep lows that'll vault everyone out of their seats, punchy mids and sizzling highs and when I dial the bass tone 75% treble tone 75% I get that awesome growl. And jnumme can testify to how it sounds when switched to passive mode. Such a versatile Jazz bass...the most versatile Jazz bass I've played. As you can tell, I can't say enough good about the Coda. I believe the TP is an option in it.

Rockin the NS2000 4 for the first time on stage. Hadnt played it in a month. Had been using rebop but decided to use it for the show. Great sound and love the sustain on this bass. Gotta get used to the weight. Even got a compliment on the sound.

NICE! I see I'm not the ONLY Acoustic owner on here. As the NS-2k4 is under rated...so are the Acoustic rigs. Great prices too.

I like the acoustic head with the vamp. I also have 2 eqs and about 9 pedals just havent used them yet. Cab sounds great with ns2000 4 hopefully it will sound good with the preamp u just sold me. I am prolly getting two eden cabs as I think my rig matches best with them and the tone of my basses. I actually have a amppeg pr 410 hlf loaded wiyh boogie speakers in mint condition im trying to sell. Loud monsta cab but
I cant get over 5one with edens. Ill use acoustix for small shows and practice. Ill prolly keep head since it works well integrated in my system
