Hey guys if anyone happens to see a preamp from an ns 20004 anywhere lemme know. Thinking bout dropping one in my rebop. Finally got to play the ns live tone was perfect for what I want. Inrealize the nexk thru maple body makes a diff in tone too but just wanna see how it sounds. Thanks.

For those of you playing with Wimbish neck profiles, do you find it difficult to quickly adjust to the more standard size Spector necks?

It's not exclusive to Spector necks.

I went from a Telecaster 1.75-inch nut and a C-shape neck to a Spector NS-2JA-R with a 1.64-inch nut and slimmer neck overall. That took me quite a while to adjust. Now I prefer the smaller NS-2JA-R neck. I wear a size Large glove if that helps.

The Telecaster has 20 frets. The Spector has 24. Sometimes when switching between the two I'd find myself in the wrong position. Doing it right takes attention.

I'm now thinking about getting an NS-2 Wimbish. If I do it will mean more adjustments ahead. Another option is to get a Forte-4. I assume it has a similar neck to my NS-2JA-R if not exact.

I've taken my time to learn the the details of the bass. I just need money now.

I think if Stuart built one with a control cover, 18v pre, and black neck binding, fender guys would be selling kidneys and look like world war Z trying to get one. Lol!

I bet that the 18 v pre could fit with some thinking.....hmmmm. Might have to be an after built mod...?

There's no question in my mind that the best guitars and basses being made by Spector are being made right now. And the ones next year and the year after that will be even better.

Oh man ... You mean I have to buy a new USA bass each year?!? ............................. OK!

I'm not sure....I have an 18 volt system installed in my euro after i got it......it fits but wasn't planned by Spector.... I like it very much

What's up with the spectacore's I never see any one talking about them ?

I picked one up a while back on the GC website for $300, bass is in great shape but had a bad jack and volume control which they fixed on site, its got a lot of tone options, deep and woody to a bit of growl, easy neck to play similar to the legend I had, strung with d'addario half rounds, got a lot of pbass in it, I'm a little surprised it doesn't get much love here either.

Today I was able to finish the preamp swap out...And WHAT a VERY pleasant surprise when I plugged Her into my Ampeg B-15T! Wow! A very aggressive tone indeed! Just what I was looking for from my NS-2000/5. I'm a very happy owner indeed! Next project...swap the HZ's for some active 35P/J pups. When I get more bass funds built up.

I'm putting up FS 1 BT preamp with black solid metal dome knobs...and a set of Spector branded P/J pickups, if interested, PM me. I'll give a great club price

Now back to polishing and playing a bunch!

Patrick - Thank You for your answer & explanation. In the event my proposed configuration gets a "No", which available pre/pickup combo would you recommend to get close to my desired tone?

The TonePump. That'd be the easiest solution. It'll fit without a problem because the Coda comes installed with the OBP-2. Which is exactly the same size as the TP.

Other than the TP...

The 18v USA Circuit: you know very well the difference between the two. And if you look into the control cavity of your NS-4, I think you'll see that you MIGHT be able to squeeze one of these into the Coda. That's something Jimmy Eppard would be able to answer.
