Yeah I have to ashamedly admit I have not really used the NS-5XL a lot since I bought it used last year. I got the Webster not long after and decided that was the good fit for the band. I haven't been real good at rotating basses. Just easier to grab the Webster every time.

My 6XL will have the Webster neck profile so that should see a lot of playing time. It may make me move the Webster - I don't know. I like that it's the one Patrick used for the all the promo stuff but I also don't want to leave it sitting in the closet.

I completely understand Bunk! I was a bit hesitant to take my Forte out for the first few months. That blue 5'er is really nice...I tried it out when guy.n.cognito owned it.

I can see how the Webster would be more comfortable to play...IMO, it's the perfect neck profile on a 5er! I bet that 6er will feel pretty amazing!

Another thing you could try is changing the neck pickup with an EMG 35P and see if you like it. That is a bit cheaper than springing for an NS-2 right away and you might be surprised with the results

Any 5 string exclusive guys sell off their 5ers for a couple of 4 bangers? I've been playing my Euro 5 for about a year and a half and I know 100% that this is the bass for me. I've always thought that the US Spectors are quite pricey, but now that I've gotten a taste of my Euro 5, I know that a US build would be worth it. I just couldn't see myself dropping that kind of cash on any other kind of bass at this point in time.

My main question is for the guys that were playing 5s before but switched to 4's. As some of you may know, I recently also picked up a Fender Mark Hoppus signature (4 string) and its a pretty basic bass, but for the standard tuning stuff I wanted it for, its perfect. I really hadn't looked at 4's for years until I came across this bass locally, I had to have it, so I bought it. It's been bringing me lots of 4 string GAS lately, its killing me! I'm seeing SO many nice 4 string Spectors available right now, and so little 5s out there that interest me, I really do need to go custom to get what I want out of a 5 string.

Would I be crazy to sell my Euro 5 and switch to a stable of various 4's (lots of spectors!?) Ive been wanting to pick up a nice 5 string to my specs for a while, but havent found one that I really like and the custom build time is quite long going brand new from spector. I only really drop tuned my Euro 5, never my 4 strings, so I'm assuming just like my 5, with the right strings, setup, etc, a 4 string will sound great in drop A too.

I did the switching back and forth with 4&5 string Spectors but when it came down to it...I like having a 2 octave bass.
I tried making one of my 4's into BEAD but...it wasn't enough for me.
Some here play the 35" fours with BEAD stringing. I like mine 35" Five strings, my personal preference.
Definitely try out a USA BO! They are mucho impressive! I never thought I'd say I own a BO but my Coda 5XL Deluxe is HEAVENLY! I'll still buy more NT's, as I have my mouth watering over a WCR NS-5XL, and I have been in this long enough to know nothing else will do. NT's have a most soothing sound that BO's don't replicate. Good luck brother!

Anyone know what Spector charges for a spare fretless neck? Would be cool to swap necks for a fretted or fretless bass. Thought about doing this with my stingray a while back but it just wasnt for me.

This was looked into last year as someone was looking for a new neck for their ReBop...$350.00 is what I remembered. I don't know if it'd be the same for a USA BO. Contact Pj Rubal. He can tell you or steer you in the right direction.

I agree! I was a bit apprehensive at first, but now I'm 110% sold!!! I have at least one more to order in the near future, but not ruling out a owning a few different ones when it's all said and done!

I also have love for the Neck-thru models, but my wallet says otherwise!

Here, here...used is less expensive. There's a lot out there...maybe not for sale but if you can wait or put LimaGuy on the hunt for you, there is some SaWeet basses/deals to be had.

NBD , Well here she is #36 . I put some daddario nickels on her and didnt even have to tweek it clean sound and intonated dead nuts which surprised me because I used a different gauge then what was on there. I do have to say I LOVE IT! plays awesome sounds incredible and something I noticed with a USA Spector even the screws to the electronics plate were stouter ...lol
Well since shes sounding good and I went through some songs for this weekend I think she'll be on stage tonight as my main player.

Note: First song I tested her out on was Slayer South Of Heaven always a good tune to break them in with.

I believe she's looking more gorgeous with age! I'm just a proud Grandparent that's all.

I realized my comments could come off negatively to those who don't play out and it certainly isn't meant that way. Everyone deserves to own and play these basses. I think the sentiment is more that if you have a chance to show them off publicly, it's good to do that.

I'd wager I've spent almost as much of my 25 years playing time on my own as I have in a band. The longest span was probably late 1998 through late 2001. Since then it's been fairly steady, but I've still had gaps a year long in that timeframe where I'm a "solo" artist.

I definitely did not mean to offend any of the bedroom players here! I'm between projects right now so I'm a solo/bedroom artist at the moment too!

I should clarify my statement by saying if you are currently a regular gigging player and are afraid to take your US Spectors out it would be like caging a Bengal Tiger...get that beautiful beast out and let the world hear its roar!!

I'm hoping to get back into some lessons since I live in the same town as guys like Regi Wooten, Roy Vogt, Adam Nitti, Dave Fowler, etc...I've reached a plateau and would like to tweak my technique and get a fresh perspective on how to approach playing the bass!

I've just woken up to Spectors and that's a good thing. My NS-2JA-R is a great entry.

Not at all, I am working on a few projects but nothing live at the moment. Sometimes the bedroom studio is the only place you can play what you like.
