Have to settle for crappy cell pics my girl took since I'm on the road, but the "wildcard" just got delivered.

Say hello to Coda 5XL #046!

This one is pretty much identical to icebox' Coda except for the finish and I had them put the custom Spector MojoTones in it, so with red and more aggressive pickups it's the "evil twin" if you will.

Going to be a very long drive home Sunday!

CONGRATULATIONS Bunk!!! She's gorgeous! :bassist: I'll be waiting to hear what you think about the More aggressive pups.

got my new zeebop today and i'm super siked, I can't get over how good this bass sounds I had read that the zebra wood adds some lowend punch to the bass but this thing is redickulus, the tone is way deeper than my maple top rebop5 and my euro lx4 even with the hz pickups, I can't wait to get the twx's in it

Congratulations! She's beautiful! That's the first I've heard about the Zebra ReBops being deeper in tone. Cool.

First post on Spector Bass Club....So thought I'd share my collection so far.
From left to right, Euro 4 Doug Wimbish, Spectorcore 4 fretless, and a Black NS2A ( with upgrades)

Thanks to #LimaGuy, have something very unique to add to these 3 arriving shortly and feed my GAS..

Richard.

That looks a lot like mine, The Wimbish, a fretted spectorcore and a black ns2a, what upgrades have you done

Just thought I would ask the impossible ???

I would like to buy a clean original Kramer Spector 5 from the 80's made in Neptune New Jersey KRAMER factory.

I know these are RARE and several cats collect them, and MOST collectors will not sell theirs.

IF ANYONE HAS ONE FOR SALE I AM VERY INTERESTED.

PM me.

Thanks
There's a looooong line for that Unicorn...me included. :D I know 2 guys right now that scoop them up FAST and one is the V.P. of Spector. :smug:

Very NICE collection. How are you liking the SpectorCore?

Hello all!

I currently own 2 ReBop basses which I love and use as my main fretted bass.

I recently posted in the amps section looking for solutions on how to get a warmer tone with more character out of my G&K set up and was told to crank up the volume, bass and woofer boosts and roll everything else back.

Well, it works well with my fretless but the Spector is so hot, there is no way I can keep the amp set that high. Okay, I lowered the volume a bit and still am getting a slightly better sound.

But with the volume on the amp raised, there is a tremendous amount of hiss if I turn the treble up on the pickups. The problem is the same on both basses, so it is obviously inherent in the design.

Is there a way to address this issue without affecting the overall sound of the bass?

I am not a tech, so I would need to have someone do this for me but am most interested in your thoughts.

Thanks very much!

Upgrades to the NS2A so far:

- Replaced black plastic nut with brass nut
- replaced tuners with gold Schaller ones.
- replaced bridge with a new Spector gold legend
- replaced metal dome knobs with genuine NS2 versions
- added gold Schaller strop locks
- re-lined the control cavity with gold metal tape [faraday cage]
In addition, a set of EMG PJ arrived a coupe of days ago so about to replace the Spector branded pickups
with these.

Does your Tonepump have the trim pot on it or is it one of the older ones without the trim pot? If it's the older one without the trim pot, those tend to be very hot so you might want to change it out with a newer Tonepump that has the trim pot. I did that with my older Rebop 5 and now I am able to adjust the gain to the output levels of my other basses which makes it much easier.

I got a bunch of hiss with my non trim tonepump as well and changing it out made it better. There is still some there but it is not nearly as bad as it was with the old pre in it. You may also try lowering the pickups a bit since that could lower the gain a bit as well until you can get it to a point of your liking.

bassarama,

This will be an impossible mission. Your best bet is to probably order a new Woodstock NS-5 which is a 34" scale modeled after the Kramer Era NS-5s.

Ice,
Actually there are 2 gentlemen that own alot of NS-5's.

But PJ himself doesn't own any Kramer era models at all at this time.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!

Anyone have any tips for output jack issues on the Euros? I've been using my bass with a bit of a jack problem for a while but now I'm getting no sound at all.

I opened up the control cavity and the wiring is all good, I just think the cord isn't making a solid connection where it has to..

How do I get inside the jack? It seems near impossible, and I cant figure out how to take the thing apart so I can try bending the prongs back to make contact.

Just get back from family vacation- a whole week away from my spectors!

But when I got home my tonehammer pedal was waiting for me- got to plug it in briefly and I really dug it. The legend sounded awesome through it!

First try different cables and change the battery but if it is the jack;
Once those barrel jacks go bad they are pretty much done and you need to replace them. Are you getting any cracking or popping at all or just no sound? Have you recently done any mods in this bass?

That design for an output jack sucks. That's all there is to it. Check the connector on your cable, if the tip gets a tiny bit bent it will cause you problems.

You will most likely need to replace the jack. Not a big deal, but make sure you buy a SWITCHCRAFT connector. There are a million Chinese copies of that connector that suck way more than the SWITCHCRAFT one.

Anyway, with the new connector, it will be nice and snappy for a couple of years.

Cheers.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll have to place an order for a new jack, I've gone through and replaced all of my cheaper cables with high end cables recently so I know it's not a problem with my cables.

I was getting crackling and popping for the past two weeks, didn't use the bass on stage at a show we had on the weekend (rented a bass and was meaning to get a new jack this week) but now I'm getting nothing at all.
