I think the gold will look better also Bunk. Def compare the 603's to what you have. The low tension didn't do it for me and they don't detune well. But, that's just my ear and I need tension cause I beat the strings. They might be better with a pick player.

The CK's feel pretty low in tension anyway so hopefully not a big change. I don't usually drop tune except the B to A. I actually keep one bass tuned ADGCF and another CGCFBb with the proper gauges to try and keep tension even across all the basses. I think you're right though, the lower tension would be more noticeable with fingerstyle.

exactly. remember that ebony has been used for centuries on double basses, violins and other stringed instruments. no reason to be afraid of ebony.

If I were buying a fretless, it would have an ebony fingerboard.

I have to admit, I like the abalone and black MOP inlays better, but it's very cool to see something like the purple inlays done. Makes you think about the other possibilities.

This is your bass with the neck from Todd's Purple Daze and the bridge from Patrick's Blue Dream. Not the best Photoshop work but you get the idea.

A one of a kind is a true builders dream, I'm wanting to see and hear this beauty!

It's cool to see the pics of the other 5 for me too because the pics look a lot like what mine looks like in person. The pic above this post looks like a somewhat darker purple but I think that's because of how it was lit and the background. Still can't wait to get a proper stage shot of mine to see what it looks like under those lights.

ok now that is NICEEEEE.. i wonder if they have a sound sample of maybe like NS-2 same bass but with the different necks.??? and how much different they would sound

My experience with US 9v circuits is limited to a Forte 4, a Kramer NS-2 and now the UV 5XL. The comparison of the Forte 4 and the 5XL is probably the most apt considering they're both the modern version of the US 9v. Going on memory, I don't feel like there is significant difference between the pau ferro and BEM.

Yes, this lighting seems to really have an effect on the UV stain. I believe this is a Patrick shot after NAMM of Torn's bass. Maybe Patrick could confirm. I've seen pics of this bass where it looks light and others where it looks dark.

I emailed PJ about this color and he said they are all the same color stain and the differences from pic to pic are all in the lighting. Although I suspect differences in the wood might be a factor too.

I too am looking forward to seeing your bass under some stage lighting.

Oh and Bunk, I wanted to mention that when it comes to the black cherry color, your bass, Torn's, and Sam's, show me that pau ferro looks the best with black cherry.

Thanks - that's a big reason I stuck with it. My Carvin from the 90's which was my main player for years was red with ebony and abalone, and I love its look. But the pau ferro Spector uses just looks really nice against the black cherry.

So I wonder if ultraviolet will become the next Bahama Blue for Spector. Seems like there were a ton of Bahama Blue basses made in the last few years. I especially like the NS-5 Dave Fowler has which has an ebony board. Very nice match to the blue, but then again, so is the BEM and pau ferro! Too many choices....
