You know I am not a big enough fan of Floyd to the point where I know their stuff back to front, but their impact on rock and prog is undeniable. I don't think Porcupine Tree could have ever existed as it was in the 90's without them.

Comfortably Numb is one of those songs that has suffered for it being too popular. The song is almost too good. You hear too much and it can lose its potency.

Reminds me of Pearl Jam's "Jeremy". What a great song. And then it was everywhere. I made it a point to never watch the video and turn the radio off when it was on. I only wanted to hear it when I was listening to the whole album. That has helped it not "wear out" for me.

I was never a Pink Floyd fan and still don't own any of there stuff, the guys in the band asked to learn a couple songs and picked Hey You (made me want to learn fretless) and Money (I told them only if our guitarist played over the sax solo)...both songs, even if they are not club material have stood up in that environment because there are true Pink Floyd fans who freak out when they are played right and I would have never known this unless I agreed to play those songs!

Finally took new family photo, lookin good. However with now having the 6-string I am debating selling the NS20005 despite all its awesomeness...even though it was made around the same time my NS20004 was...

Here's an "Advanced Mix" of one of the tracks that will be on the album. Keep in mind that the drums are still the Roland kit I played on...I still have to get the studio drum files and drop them in. A buddy of mine mixed this with a good ear for the bass and also the Spector tone. This mix is focused more so on the guitars and bass and overall balance.

I've always had a thing for this kind of music. It's very tasty when you get a message across using these vocal samples from history (or wherever really).

But yeah... more bass. :bassist:

Monitors can make the difference, I have some cheap Makie MR-5's and spend a lot of time in the car listening and going through a lot of Cd's. Getting a good pair of studio cans have helped to reduce that though.

Yea, I went to the shop today to listen to some Yamaha HS7's. WOW!

Thanks man. I hesitated because it's so old and lo fi but it demonstrated with I was talking to Bunk about. The soundman had a cassette deck connected to the board aux out so he just popped in a cassette and hit record.

Back then (1988) there wasn't even the ADAT yet. Good recordings were expensive and hard to make so this stuff is all I have from those days as far as live recordings go.

But when taken in context I'm proud of these recordings. I never grew tired of playing/singing this.

I think the sound is great, I like the history and vibe of the board mix with the cassette....you rock my friend!

Here are a few pictures of Dirty Ray, Spector Endorsed artist playing in the Bret Michaels band with his LegendX. This show was at a place called CD&ME in Frankfort, Illinois. I just so happens I'm a Firefighter Paramedic on Frankfort Fire District. Really awesome 3000 seat venue. Enjoy.
