Incase anyone is curious, Frankfort is about 40 miles south of Chicago, Illinois. Great rock area. In fact the band Disturbed has a rehearsal/ storage studio in town. So any bands looking to hit the road, don't forget this little area. Lots of Rock and Metal fans that can pack a house.

The bass could have been more present on the DC album, but it's very hard to penetrate a wall of guitars and keys and pounding drums augmented by samples. When compared to other releases in the genre I don't think I did any worse. Bass is just not as audible in these situations as it might be on stuff like Steven Wilson's records.

That said, I have better DI's, better strings and better basses than I had when I did the last record so I expect that to make a difference. I don't see the 5XL with a US 9v going through a B3K and REDDI with nice steel strings getting crowded out too badly.

If I recall I was actually still using Dunlop nickels and my Bass PodXT as a DI to record the album tracks so not a lot of presence there. I know my keyboardist ran the DI tracks through a Sansamp PSA-1 and that helped a lot. But next time, it will sound as good as I can make it sound. :)

Here's an "Advanced Mix" of one of the tracks that will be on the album. Keep in mind that the drums are still the Roland kit I played on...I still have to get the studio drum files and drop them in. A buddy of mine mixed this with a good ear for the bass and also the Spector tone. This mix is focused more so on the guitars and bass and overall balance.

Sounds awesome, I like that you are doing this style with less vocals. It's something that I could come home to, go into the man cave, turn off the lights and unwind to. Being able to connect to music through my own interpitation is very exciting for me.

Ok guys Im in a generous mood today, I made some good sales this week and want to thank my Spector bretheren for the bumps and kind words so......for the rest of today until midnight pm if you interested, ill put the names in a hat and draw for my MM114 preamp, I know a few guys here have been looking for one, some trimming had been done to try and fit it in a tight cavity but i assure you it still works great. No Charge, Spector club members only!

Speaking of guilty pleasures, I took a long listen to some Duran Duran yesterday. I guess I never realized how much John Taylor had going on. The bass work is solid and sometimes complicated but never /lead-bassy/.

:help: I know that the discussion of gig bags had come up just recently. Do you all know of a great quality gig bag that has wheels on the bottom? I need to give both of my shoulders & neck a break. Or else...I've thought about adding wheels to my Spector HSC? :hmm: What say YE brethren?:)

Yes - very good band instrumentally. This is why I actually like a lot of 80's pop stuff vs what passes for pop today. Back then you still had pretty cool instrumental performances happening to back up a pop singer. For the most part that seems to be missing today.

Wow. Chuckie shaved his Mohawk. MMMmmmm.

Great group of guys for sure. And Bret works hard to put on a great show.

I was his stage photographer last year at a show he did... about 10K people. Big stage.

Damn this stuff is so cool! Comfortably Numb was cool, but I really dig Yes. Man that guy is a dead ringer from Jon Anderson on Good People. The harmonies were really done justice on this too. I like the Whitesnake stuff too. :)
