Was about to pull the trigger on a used Legend when I found this practically mint condition Rebop for sale locally and was able to get it for a great price.

Oh man, it feels so good. Thought I'd have trouble with the neck coming from an Ibanez Soundgear but even though it's certainly thicker, it's still very comfy for me and just feels great and love the body profile. The guy who sold it put new DR flats on which I've never used and I'm loving them. And it sounds fantastic!

Only negative is it's heavier than I'm used to. The Ibby feels lighter than my Tele guitar but this is noticeably heavier than the Tele. Still manageable, though. I'm happy! :hyper: And love that finish!

that's a sweet looking zeebop you got their, looks like it was cut from the same log as mine.

I've started seeing some if the Spector coda pros showing up on ebay. I'm a little surprised by the street price of these. not that they're not worth it, but when you consider that the korean made quilt top legends have the same electronics (tone pump jr., I know the pickups are different) and are selling for 150 less it surprises me. the legends have three piece quartersawn necks and curved bodies. I can't imagine they're cheaper to build.

Thanks for the input.

The Aerodyne has a basswood body, maple neck, and rosewood fret board so I wouldn't expect it to be exactly like a Spector, but the active EMGs and TP should get it really close. I'm not a huge believer in 'tone woods', especially with active electronics, but I wouldn't argue that body wood will have some effect on tone.

I guess I'll just have to do it and see what comes of it. The carved top is going to make routing a cavity for the pre and batt a bit touchy, but I believe there is plenty of wood to get it done. A local luthier is willing to take it on for $150. That includes the cavity routed with a new cover, and some work on the neck, ie brass nut and level the frets up. He's gonna maybe route a shallow cavity for the Gotoh 201 bridge I have on it, cuz the base is thicker than stock and the E and G string saddles are just about bottomed out but I would like them a bit lower, especially after the frets are leveled and dressed. I'm going to install the 'tronics myself.
I'll be setting it up as a 3 pot system, Vol, bass, treble. No 2nd vol or blend, just both p'ups paralleled to the vol and I'll balance their outputs by adjusting the height. I don't usually mess with blend anyways, center detent and go, and I've never been a fan of dual vol pots. Trying to even both out is a pain. Hahahaha, one knob to rule them ALL!!

Should be an interesting project.

I think maybe it's a "New Model" thing. :confused: Plus basses seem to be advertised higher on the evil bay than what you can buy from a dealer, even though those are dealers that are selling them. Plus they need to recover some money from eBay selling fees.

So I went into my local music store totally not expecting to buy something. Seriously, really I didn't. But of course I was checking out some of the bass gear, and this is a small guitar shop in a small town with a bass selection that rivals Guitar Center.

Anyway I checked out this Schecter Custom 5. That has the really light colored matte finish. It was really nice, better than I expected it to play honestly. Then I noticed they had two Spectors on display. I had played a few Spectors a long time ago, and I have always heard good things about them. So I plugged it in and played around with it for a while. I played through a Hartke LH500 + VX410 + VX115 and it sounded amazing. At one point the manager came out and complemented how deep and amazing the sound was (hoping I would buy all 4 pieces LOL)

But I don't need a new bass, I have two and I'm buidling two more. But I went and ate lunch, and I jumped on it. So I am the newest member of the Spector family and so far I LOVE IT!!!!

Super awesome looking bass. Those Ivory EMGs really add some character to that bass. It's seems to actually show off the wood, with the contrast of the Pups. Very nice............ I will now drool excessively for the next hour over those pictures.
