SPECTOR® Club - Part 66

Spector brothers and sisters. Do we have sisters ? Lol anyways . I'm offering a club discount on the Forte 4 I have listed in the classifieds. So if your seriously interested in this beautiful bass send me a pm and I can give you the club priceola!

Ice and Rich can vouch I'm sure on the qaulity and tone this axe delivers and or answer questions that I can't . Thanks Jody
Ps. I'm really considering a u.s. bolt on for some reason . But just can't swing it for awhile with this new home project going. I really liked the one guitar house had recently but sold . :(

Couldn't agree more.

I'd love it if bands like Tesseract and Karnivool had the same size crowds and amount of financial success as 'artists' like Nikki Minaj and Lil Wayne

I'd also love if they played genuine Spectors instead of the knockoff brand ;)

That's pretty depressing, actually.

I've always been a huge fan of walnut (both for the look and the tone) and I'm actually thinking about talking to PJ to see if they can replace the standard MOP inlays with black MOP :D

I was definitely sorry to see you were forced to part with yours, I had to sell nearly every piece of gear I had about five years ago in order to avoid getting evicted during my own financial rough spot, and that was certainly no fun at all...hopefully both you and TK will be able to reunite with your basses in the near future

Ghost is my guilty pleasure. Totally polarizing band, I know, but I love their music. The bass playing is not flashy, just solid and fun for a guy like me to jam along with. It's fun to add the Spector growl to the P Bass. :D

That's a beauty. I love the looks of Spector Bolt-ons and after owning one (:bawl:) I can't wait to get my hands on one again some day.

After 27 years of playing. I Just got my first Spector bass from ynot12 A.K.A - Tony.

I have to say its more beautiful in person than the pics I saw. When I opened up the case it smelled like stepping into a brand new car. View attachment 357724

For those of you who don't know Tony, he is awesome to deal with. Thank you Tony for providing a bass that is exactly and IMO better than you described.

Eddie,

Man, that bass looks right at home.:D Thanks for the kind words and enjoy that bass!!

Tony

That's great! Todd said you'd be calling today.

Too sweet. Congrats on that. Can't wait to see it when its done ;)

yup looks like ns-2000/5

CONGRATS!

Very exciting! Are you looking for the dark pau ferro to match the mahogany back in color tone?

Thanks everyone!

This is a bass I've been wanting to make happen since I ordered my fretless. I actually thought about doing this one first, but the intrigue of no frets won out! :D

I'm really excited to see how this turns out!

Bunk, I wanted the darker PF fretboard to get closer to the ebony look and make the inlays 'pop'. I just couldn't spring for both the ebony AND buckeye top, so I went with the buckeye and asked Todd to get the 'darkest' PF board possible. It'll def achieve the look I'm wanting. :bassist:

Wow these pages fly. Me and my Spector before rehearsal the other night preparing for Sunday.

Hey Ice, been thinking and praying for you this morning. Get well brother.

Thank you brother! Gorgeous Tobacco Burst Spector! By chance, were you able to buy that from Dave Fowler? Welcome to our great family here! :bassist:
Fender to Spector LOL

By looking at the 2 pictures you are enjoying the Spectors a whole lot more Donny.:D
Man...everybody here has like 2+ Spectors...makes me feel inadequate. ^_^
Do they make a pill for that? :D

I really wish there was a Spector dealer in my area, or someone in Canada selling a 6 string Legend. I'm having 2nd thoughts about selling my P-bass & ReBop5 and getting a Stingray 5. Maybe I'll just sell the Classic 50's P and get a Legend 6?
I have only 1 Spector bass...but "Big Blue" is all That I need right now.:smug: Selling those 2 basses and buying a Legend 6 sounds like a great idea!:hyper: I love the looks and sound of the Legend 6 and about pulled the trigger on buying one a few times.
First - My prayers for a speedy recovery to Ice.

Second - Sam... very cool idea.

My first post in this forum was artsy photos of my NS-2A back on 02-15-2010 - Part 4 of this club.

Wow.

Shot this past Saturday... I was playing The Blue Dream in my studio and the sun was setting... I liked the light and my camera was near by. Time for a self-portrait with The Dream
Thank you Patrick!:) So far so good. What a cool picture of you and "Blue Dream"
Which one of you fine gentlemen are giving club numbers? Owner of a Legend Classic 4 and a 5. Still saving for an Euro.

2 beautiful Spector Legends! Congratulations and welcome to our Spector family! :bassist::bassist:
In, with both thoughts for ICE and some cool news.
Wally TRM (http://www.youtube.com/user/WallyTRM), a spector artist who plays for the hysteria has asked me to do a cover of one of the songs off of his band's new EP- I stupidly went and picked the hardest one! I might end up doing a different song than I originally planned to, but regardless of which I pick, it'll be a workout. Hopefully I'm up to the challenge!
Thank you cj :) And congratulations on an awesome opportunity!:hyper: You 'll do just fine. :bassist:
In celebration of overtaking Lakland and reaching thread #66
I looked back for my first post in the Spector Club.
It was in Thread #9 5/21/11
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/spector-club-part-9-a-754817/index47.html#post10930110

Here we are 57 threads later and 194 members later.
I got member # 225
DeLucaJohn2000 got # 226
ChrisLoe got # 227
(latest member is #419)

Here is actually my First post on Talkbass from 5/11/11 The question I am asking shows that I came here not knowing much about Spectors.
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/spector-euro-4lx-vs-spector-ns-2a-769472/

And here is a look back at all the Spectors I have owned since joining the Club in May of 2011.
I wish I could have kept them all. Each one I had to sell hurt.
But I did spread some joy, as others in this club now own some of these basses.

Here are some never before posted sexy photos of

Wow Lima, what a cool idea and where has the time gone these years??? So is your total Spector bass count 15?
First - prayers and best wishes to ICE
Second - I'm in! Not only on thread 66 but also just got in off of Route 66 as the family and I moved from the Cincinnati area to the Southern California area and are now in our new home in Moorpark (near Thousand Oaks just North of LA).
Third - the drive across country with a Porsche SUV and a BMW SUV packed to the gills with about 30 bass guitars and other valuables that we didn't trust to shippers was a real experience that I hope I don't have to do again any time soon. Everything made it ok but we had our share if logistical challenges (i.e. do you leave over a hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff in the cars over night while at the hotel or do you pack it in every night and reload every morning...). If anyone is doing a similar move in the future ping me and I'll give you some tips and advice.
Fourth and most importantly - The Family pics...

Really happy to hear that your move was very successful without any hitches.:hyper: (30 basses...really?) Wow!
I don't have a Spector nor have I ever had the chance to play one but I just want to say that I visit this club frequently just to look at these basses. IDK how they play but they are some of the best looking basses ever. The Spector club has the highest density of pictures of gorgeous basses than any other club here on TB. I rarely gas over gear just based on pictures but all your post actually make me want one. Unfortunately I cannot afford a new bass nor does any place around here ever have any in stock to try out. Thank you all for sharing the art you all own.
Glad to have you cruising about these parts! Welcome! GC is a very good source for used and hardly used Spectors. You can buy the Legend model on there from $200 up. I've bought several basses, guitars and cabs from GC and they've all been great condition. But there is always family members in our club that are selling there stellar SPECTOR BASSES in the classifieds on TB also. Good luck!:bassist:
Hi everyone. I just acquired my very first Spector a couple of weeks ago! I brought her home and cleaned her up. After a new set of Cobalt strings &
a good set up, she's growling! It's a mid-Kramer era
NS 2 that I found hanging in a local store. Love this bass!
Wowzers! That NS-2 has an amazing wood grain! Congratulations on a great score! Welcome to our awesome Spector family!:bassist:

2 beautiful Spector Legends! Congratulations and welcome to our Spector family! :bassist::bassist:

Thanks a lot Ice! I modified the Legend 4 Classic with an EMG 35TW in neck and an EMG 35DC in bridge. Also added a BQC Control. Didn't add the BQC System because I would've lost the single coil/humbucker switch in the TW. It's also strung with extra heavy DR DDT strings tuned BEAD. It runs at 18v. Did it all by myself. I sent a pic to PJ and he gave me props. I am planning to retune this one to C and eventually just get a 35" Euro 4 strung BEAD. :)

I have to give a HUGE thanks to Todd and PJ on this build, both have been exceptional to talk with and have made this bass happen for me!

I can't express how refreshing it is to talk with people who are not only passionate and knowledgeable, but are willing to go above and beyond to provide the customer their dream bass!

That is a great build plan!!!!

I'll take the solid stuff over the fancy tapping slapping stuff anyday. I'm spinning orange goblin and an italian band isaak at the moment.

Wow Lima, what a cool idea and where has the time gone these years??? So is your total Spector bass count 15?

Ice,
Hope your feeling ok.

When I first started looking back, my first thought was I was on Talkbass 1.5 years meanwhile its been 2.5 years.

15 previous Spectors and I miss everyone of them. :(

4 Current Spector Basses & 1 Spector Guitar so total 20

Thank you brother! Gorgeous Tobacco Burst Spector! By chance, were you able to buy that from Dave Fowler? Welcome to our great family here!

This Spector was at Bass and Beyond in Rancho Cordova which was located about 1.5 hrs from me. I saw it on their website, drove up there and after playing / admiring it, ended up buying it. Juan @ Bass and Beyond gave me a good deal on it.
