SPECTOR® Club - Part 66

Guys, please advise some ultralight cabinets. Looking at something not heavier 33 lbs.

I play a fEARful 12/6 which I built. Comes in around 38-39LBs. For it's size I haven't heard anything that can touch it's combination of power handling, low end to weight ratio. I sure some of the GB authorized builders could hit your mark with a marine grade wood. Otherwise maybe a Thunderchild, Genz Benz Shuttle 1x12.

Honestly, that looks @$&!ing amazing and price is reasonable, but, I do not buy anything that costs more that $150 without first trying it. A simple rule of mine that has saved me a couple of times. If I come across one in a local shop or CL I will give it a shot. I do love that bubinga though. :eek:

That's a good rule to have for sure...if you buy from GC whether in store or online, used or new, you get a 100% guarantee and can be returned for 100% money back. :)

The Jouney tribute band this weekend.
:cool::bassist:!
I am usually good for about a month too and then my E string is pretty much dead but the rest of the strings seem to have some life left in them. I tend to rest my thumb on the E string when I am not using it though so that might be why I am killing that string much faster than the rest.

I tried to take a picture of my NS-5 outside today but my photography skills are just terrible and I guess a green bass tends to blend in with the grass a bit as well :)

Beautiful John!:cool::bassist::)

I really don't want to belabor this any further. I only made my comment after you mentioned your band leader doesn't want 5 strings for aesthetic reasons, which frankly I find laughable. I should have shut up about it so that's my bad.

It's funny how others want to lead a musician into a direction that sometimes doesn't make any sense, like a producer wanting a Fender to record sometimes an artist wants a 'look' for the stage without giving any thought to the musicians capabilities and what they could add to the sound of the music....4 strings are the standard, 5 strings are an addition, 6 strings would really freak an up tight artist out that's only concerned out the 'small' things! I have worked with directors that want the bass to sound a certain way, commented on how they liked my Fender P-bass the best, and want the bass parts played to there exact interpretation of the song even when its wrong! lol

I use two GK mbe 2-10 cabs. They're right in your weight class, and great cabs. Price s pretty good too.:hyper:

Just curious.I think the Forte is a great bass.If you want the Spector sound and US made,this bass has got it.But why do people keep selling them?I've seen it all 4s and 5s all being sent their walking papers!I don't get it....

Bassmanc considering your referencing my ad and I thank you for the advertising. .:D . Early in a part 63 or something around there I had mentioned to the club that neck just isn't doing it for me and to precise my hand fatigues faster in the lower registers. But the Euros I don't have that issue so being that it doesn't get the love it should I want to pass it on to another member to enjoy. Which maybe happening today.:D . I think I'm gonna have to stay away from the ns2 just for that reason . Sucks :mad: so my next choice maybe a bo us model . So that's my reasoning pretty straight forward I guess . The other thing is forte are more affordable and thats why maybe some folks sell and trade idk but either way Spector still rules when it comes build quality tone and most of the time playability except in my case ...lol

Is the neck really that much thinner on the non-Rebop Euros?

Hmm...I'm used to the Ibanez Soundgear neck and although I have no problem on the Rebop (it's really super comfortable considering the difference), I would still prefer thinner...so this would make a Euro my next purchase. I think more than the girth of the neck, what feels a little off for me is the width the higher up the neck you go.

may be my string height too. its higher on my rebop. not sure for some reason neck feels a little wider. just seems easier to play the euro. so im gonna make a few adjustments

Okay so life is getting crazy. My phone died again and now I have a few bills I have to take care of lol. So im gonna put up for sale to club members only my rebop. its the lite bright one with the wrap. under the wrap its that orange blackburst I guess ud call it. Replaced the preamp with one from Iceboxbass's ns2000 5. opened up the tone alot . it actually has more volume and way more low end then it had when the TP was in it. Its an earlier one. its in very good shape. unfortunatley all my pics are in my dead cellphone. Id take 475 plus shipping as a discount for you guys. dont wanna sell it but if I cant come up with some cash for early next week im gonna have some small issues. anyhoo not posting in classifieds its only in here and gonna put up on CL so i dont have to deal with shipping. but if one of you guys is interested hit me up. hopefully i can take care of my issue over weekend so i wont have to sell but we will see how it goes. thanks guys.

And no its nothing life threatening or what not just some bills came up and since I have 3 i had to decide between rebop and blue ns. Thanks again. ps sorry bout spelling

It is a neck issue for me, the necks are huge on the couple I have had a chance to play. The Ultra Amber that I picked up from Lee has a neck that is pretty much just right. But, Dave Fowler ordered that bass with a Kramer neck profile. Also, I have seen several people get the necks shaved on these basses.

Guys I need to apologize to all of you, and specifically MDBass for basically acting like an ******* yesterday. This is not an excuse, but I was having a very bad day, and regrettably I channeled some of that in here. I should have found a better way of stating my thoughts.

Again, my apologies.

Are you saying that your a rebel Bunk and you follow your own path? Much respect to that if you can do it as well as much respect to MDBass for the capability of performing as a paid musician for hire and adjusting to the artists needs....both are good in there own way and you have done nothing wrong, apology is always accepted but is not required Andrew!

LOL - I don't know if I'd say rebel. It's mostly just an internal compass I have that I can't deviate from. When something feels wrong to me, I can't make myself do it. That's basically all I was trying to say.

You said it well and with passion for your beliefs....You Rebel! lol Now take that passion to the bass and write us a song about all of this, bet it would kick some ...!
