Since I started with Spectors, I've removed all of the effects from my setup. The straight through sound is amazing on its own. :)

I've only had to replace the batteries in my NS-4 twice. But each time I had to get a very flat knife to gently pry the batteries out a little at a time.

You can't be in a hurry when you do a battery replacement on an NS-4.

Patrick - any idea why Spector doesn't go with the little plastic swivel compartments like the EMG BQC 18V has (Alex Webster sig)? I really like those things - makes the change-outs easy with no kitchen implements required! :D

I agree! I love the quick release battery compartment! That is one of the features that drew me to the US BO series! :bassist:

I actually had a difficult time getting two batteries in the stock compartment on my old Euro5LX, so I had a local luthier perform the necessary surgery on it and add the 18v swivel compartment! :D

Yep. I wish I had the bass tracks for a demo my old cover band did for promos where I went straight in via a JDI with my Brooklyn NS2. It was just sick. I think most of those songs were in drop D too and required a pick so I know what you're hearing!

Poly. I sanded most of mine off of the playing area & plan on finishing the job when I get my bass back from the shop. MAYBE I'll oil finish it...maybe I'll leave it the way Music Mans are, au naturale :D

Can you put a strap around the batteries (the three surfaces that slide into the pocket), that way you just lift up on the strap material to pull the batteries out of the bass??? You guy's must have seen the battery pull cords right??? Hey...we can call it the Spector pull cord and you can do a video showing how to use it correctly! lol

so the first lesson with Roy went great last night! He is without a doubt a tremendous source of knowledge for technique, theory and application across multiple genres!!! I think he really dug the look and sound of ol' Spalty as well! :bassist:

My plan is to record a few tunes now...and then re-record them in a few months to track the progress! :hiding:

I'm thinking (and from what I see in my NS-5XL) that there isn't even enough room for a ribbon to fit in there. It's REALLY tight. :eek:

HUMMM, we have a thickness dimension to use for our new design!

Would you be able to dremel a path the width (need this dimension) and make the path a depth the 1mm ribbon? Then you just fold the lengths over the top of the batteries until its time to pull them out....
