This story has really made me rethink selling my NS2000/5. I would regret selling it for sure...

Nope, natural wood. No clearcoat. You can tell on the Rebops by looking at the part of the neck you can see above the pickups. On the poly finish ones it is raw maple color. On the natural finish ones it is stained.

That Warwick wax is good stuff! Smells nice too. At least it's not Fender wax??

My Poly finished ReBop is black cherry on the neck pocket, like the body...

carnauba wax is designed for gloss finishes, it's the same stuff used in good automotive wax. the Warwick wax is a mix of mineral oil and beeswax, it's really designed for use on oil finished woods so the mineral oil can penetrate the wood. I don't think it'll hurt anything, but it'll be really greasy and won't soak in, and will be more of a pain to polish off. not to mention you might get grease stains on your clothes of you don't wipe it all off completely.

if you can swing it, buy an nscrfm or a euro with a trim pot tone pump. get a neck through bass with real EMG PJ pickups. spending 800-1000 bucks now will save you a lot of time and money down the road.

later down the line you can drop 2 grand on an old Kramer ns2 if you need that extra little 10% sound that comes from the HAZ.

Just a small correction to that. The NS2A basses will most likely have a "HAZ copy" and not a real HAZ. Though, you might hit the jackpot so you never know since people have been known to install a 9V USA circuit in an NS2A.

That being said, when Sam (Limaguy) had one of his NS2A's, it was passive and didn't have a circuit in it. I can't remember if it had the EMG's or the Spector branded pickups but that thing sounded really damn good. Sam, do you remember which pickups it came with?

CBNJ, did you ever go play that NS2A in the Paramus store? I really think you should do that before you do anything else at this point or you are going to keep second-guessing yourself since there is so much information.

This is what I did to my NS2A (TP & active EMG's) and it sounded damn good as well. All for a total of under $700. But there have been some great deals on Euros lately.....

I have one and really like mine, other than it's with a tech now. Not the Ampegs fault, just my desire to try to solder things myself.:rollno: I usually see the going for $350 to 400 shipped. GLWTS

BTW I run mine into a Carvin HD1500. 3-space rack with SVP & 1500W Carvin under 20lbs. That will kick some ass I say.:bassist:
