Our producer just sent us some rough mix of 6 tracks from the studio. Man, I'm so psyched how this last round of recording went. The first time in I used my 435LX with tonepump and GHS Boomers (into an Avalon U5 and mic'd Fender 100T). This time, I used my black 435LX, which has the US18v preamp and was strung with Blue Steels. I also swapped out the Avalon U5 for my new Reddi direct box. Man, I'm so much happier with the bass sound. The top end of the US18v preamp just really gives me the the growl I was looking for! I can't wait for it all to be finished and see what you guys think!

Using Dunlop 65 or other wax? I use Dunlop 65 polish once a month just to keep that new sheen look going. Then lemon oil the neck back since it's unfinished...on my Coda 5XL DLX.

The biggest two differences are...the B is a neck-thru, C is a bolt-on, B has active 9V Haz copy pre, C is passive. The neck-thru is the obvious tell.

And you don't NEED a Haz copy Pre....but they are quite good... Im a bigger fan of the Tonepump Pre. However, my NS-2A has no pre in it at all, just active EMG's, and sounds fan-friggin-tastic!

My 1987 NS2A has the HAZ copy with the original pickups, I believe they once had the name EMG Select before changing to Spector but are the same design passive pickup (my markings are rubbed off). I have never had to adjust the neck on this bass and I have had it for over 20 years, it's one of the first in this series without a serial number or the back of headstock volute.

I can't say about the Coda Pro model but the USA Coda that I have is KILLER!!! Out of 12 Spectors I've owned in 4 years, which include USA Forte 4 & 5, this is my favorite and I've REALLY bonded with "Big Blue":). If you're looking for that NS-2 sound but on a more affordable budget (below $1K) I highly recommend trying the NS-2A. I had one and it was OUTSTANDING! I'd still own it if it wasn't the cherryburst color.:ninja: Since I play 5 strings I converted it to BEAD tuning, KILLER! Even the guitar players in my former band LOVED it! Once they had it in their hands I had to pry it out of their hands! Lol You won't be sorry. :smug: Or if you can afford it...find a used Forte 4! It's a USA NS-2 but with no bling, the biggest bang for the buck in the USA Spector market.:bassist:

On a happier note, Guitar House will have a booth at the Arlington Guitar Show this coming weekend, Oct. 19th & 20th, for all you folks in the Texas area. We will have all of our USA Spector basses in the booth for you to check out. If you are coming and there is something in their import line you are wanting to see or play let me know and I will bring it as well. We are booth 33 & 34.

Just heard from Hanser that they are shipping our Chris Kael CK4 basses in Matte White and Matte Black to us tomorrow. If any of you are seriously interested please let me know. They only received 4 of each color on this shipment and was told that this is all they will be receiving for the year. :bassist:

I wax all of my gloss finished basses with Zymol brand car wax. I discovered it when browsing the Rickenbacker forums looking for a wax that was compatable with their finishes. Turns out it works great on all of my basses, and I even use it on my Mercedes!
I use the Dunlop 65 polish for polishing in between waxings - basses only, of course. :D

You just have to give an email address to become a member. At that price, you get a new bass for what a used one would cost. Spector quality control is typically tight, so the warranty is a small sacrifice IMO.

I ordered a headstock tuner(designed by NS) and ended up paying $5 shipped after the $10 credit I was given for being a new member. Not a bad deal! :)

I'm still eyeing up that matte blue one in the classifieds. ;)
I need my bank to okay my consolidation loan, first. I should have about $2K extra on the loan, so I want to get a Euro5.
If that happens & I can convince the seller to ship to Canada, that bass will me mine! Muahahaha! If not, maybe I'll try for the burl topped one. ^_^ I do like the matte finishes, though.
