I know a member here that lives in the BC area that goes to Seattle to buy...I think its seventh? I guess it depends on the bass and arrangements that can be made. :hmm:

So.. I played the ns2a.

Definitely showed some age, Spector was faded from the pickups, had a bunch of dents and nicks. I said I like it, but it has a few issues - can you do better on the price? And they said no, they just got it a few weeks ago and it's 'competitively priced'. :( it was really comfortable to play, and had a nice low end., what do I do now?!

Very nice pair! Love the quilt on the amber (I have one very similar), and I'd really like to play an NS-2 with the double J pups someday.

I scored my NS2A for $550 shipped, with upgradeds. (Brass nut, active EMG's, and a EMG pre) It seems NS2A sales come in waves. I almost overpaid a few times because for a month or two I couldn't find one. Then bam, I found 4 in one day.....
For $699 you almost to Euro territory. I would keep an eye out for another NS2A while I was saving some more $. If you can't find the NS2A of your dreams, a fantastic Euro can be found for under a grand.:bassist:

Even thought I totally don't 'need' it, I definitely had my eye on that one; in all likelihood even including shipping it can be had for less than $500.

Forget that GC 'competitively priced' nonsense and snag this one a minute before the auction ends for the best price...it'll give me a good reason not to buy it for no reason too ;)

Not particularly close...the steel and ceramic TW humbucker in dual coil mode doesn't really sound anything like the standard ceramic P pickup, and even in single coil mode will be smoother/warmer with a flatter top end than the standard ceramic J pickup...that and the original TW pickups suffer from a pretty severe volume drop when switched to single coil mode, which can make blending them evenly a challenge

+1. There are definitely good deals to be had out there. My luck with GC has been mixed. Often times, they are overpriced for the condition that a lot of gear shows up in (ie. beaten to hell). Sometimes you luck out, sometimes you don't. My advice is to keep a very close eye on the TB classifieds. On any given day, you never know what kind of Spector goodness will turn up.

I can't remember what your budget was but you may want to take a closer look at the CRFMs, Euro4s, and possibly Rebops (if you prefer a bolt on and a less curvaceous body). Besides the used Fortes, I think Euros are the other best-kept-secret in the Spector lineup. They give you immense bang for your buck, no question.

That said, SAS is unrelenting and being patient is really hard. Your Spector(s) is/are out there. It just may take a bit of legwork to find her/them. Note, I said Spectors, plural. It's hard to stop at just one. Trust me on this. :D

Is there any way to tell which versions of the TWs are which? My Euro is a 2009, the volume drop doesn't seem that bad, but I don't really have any way to compare it.
