Yes... except it's actually classified as an NS-4MM. It'll have an Aguilar OBP-3 @ 18v. Not the 9v. With that single MM I really wanted the extra headroom and the 3rd band.
And you know why I name all of my basses right?
I had a conversation with Stuart a couple of years ago at dinner... talking about serial numbers and stuff. And we talked about Antonio Stradivari, the maker of the famous Stradivarius instruments.
Back then no one knew what a serial number was. Each Stradivarius has a proper name, like a person. I suggested that he could do a series of basses with proper names instead of serial numbers. That way they'd be one-of-a-kind, each like an individual. He laughed and said, "Groovy idea but nah!"
He started working on "The Black Pearl" for me shortly after that. And all through the build we would refer to it as "The Black Pearl"... Then when I finally got it and opened the case... I just stared at it. I swear. I didn't take it out of the case for at least 30 minutes.
It was the most beautiful bass I'd ever seen. And once I took it out of the case it would be like being born.
Imagine my surprise when I flipped it around to look and see what the serial number was and instead I saw, "The Black Pearl" written across the headstock.
I was blown away. Stuart doesn't normally do custom signatures. And each bass he's made for me has a proper name. My collection will be completed with these last two.
I'll have 5 USA Spectors, each with a proper name. A one-of-a-kind collection.
This is why I love Spector. I've been treated so incredibly well by Stuart and PJ, Jimmy and Jo Ann, Jim and John... And the end result for my dedication to helping them is a collection unlike any other filled with many firsts... the first black mop inlays... the first ARC6 with crown inlays and a Floyd rose bridge... the first neck-thru 4-string single MM bass... the first cobalt-blue burst finish Doug Wimbish with J/J pups and chrome hardware... and the last Water Cured Redwood Spector (from that original log Stuart purchased).
I'm going to create some amazing Spector Porn when these last 2 guitars arrive.
And I still have one more stock gloss black NS-2 coming. LOL. But it doesn't have a name.

So I was messing with my zoom B3 and garageband. I thought I would attempt to record a little and see what I came up with. I cut the bass from teh studio recording of our song "Get You Nowhere" and tracked my bass... one take, its not perfect and its straight bass no EQ. This is Jade. Hope you enjoy it...
Secondly, there is no longer a doubt in my mind that wenge will be the neck material of choice for my NS-2build...now all that's left to decide is whether to pull the trigger on that or the Coda DLX build first

THIS confirms the reason to keep naming my basses. To me, names make the basses more personal/real part of my life.

First of all, that's the best refinish I've ever seen, bar none; absolutely gorgeous, understated and unique.

Crappy cell phone picture. Does not do it justice. In person, it looks phenomenal. The neck was shaved down to an ultra thin traditional profile. One big reason why I favor the matte finish is the way the neck feels. Smoooooth! Tomorrow it gets a 9v preamp and a setup. The bass is a 2001 euro-4. The bridge is the original solid brass type. I had it powder coated, added some Gotoh GB-7 tuning machines. Il post some better shots tomorrow after it's strung up.

Of course taking the NS2000/4 and can't wait to see Rex Brown, maybe I'll get a chance to chat with him about all kinds of Spector goodness.
