I have an aggressive approach to playing as well. Sounds like the DR Lo-Rider MH-45 medium 45/65/85/105 might be good for you. They are stainless steel round wound with a hexagonal core, stiffness makes a very accurate harmonic and depth of tone with a high end brightness...great balance! Not sure what the price would be in Canada????

Cool clips. I have always thought the walnut back on my buckeye NS4 really added to its sound, but hard to compare to my other Spectors with the PJ setup. The walnut backed NS2 and NS4 sound closer to each other than the 2 NS-2's do (imo).

Sounds like they could be right up my alley. The one thing I liked about the CK strings were the variety of gauges available without custom ordering.

My band plays in drop A so I really do need a nice good tension string for my tuning. I opted for the .158 CK but have .135 on the Rex and it sounds great. I could definitely use a smaller string if the tension is right.

I know of a store locally who carries DR stuff and I'm actually headed down in that area this afternoon, I'll be looking into these strings for sure!

Thanks for posting those Sam. Just so everyone is aware, the NS-4 he is playing in these clips has a P/DC pickup combination instead of the standard DC/DC combo that the NS-4 normally has. I am going to record some clips tomorrow comparing the 2 pickup combinations so people can hear the difference.

As for the Circle K strings, I have a set on my Rebop 5 and really like them but I might have to look into an alternative which might me tough. That bass is tuned very low so I am using the .158 set which was not cheap but I am not hearing many positive things about them lately.

I just went to their site and tried to use the "select your strings" portion with the drop down boxes and got a "method not allowed" error which is really sad. The only way to see the sets they offer is to click through each page which is just annoying so they really need to get their act together.

OH...thought you wanted a 4 string set, they do have a heavier gauges, just got to shop around...good luck!

Turns out that this is a NS20004. EMGs are aftermarket, preamp is unknown and the toggle switch is setup for P, J or Both. Nut is plastic replacement and the Eye bolts were used due to the original strap buttons being worn out. Not the deal I was hoping for. Oh well. I do appreciate the help and comments from everyone. It definitely gave the right questions to ask the seller.

With a couple nice 20004 and 20005 out on EBAY and a Coda Pro for the same price range I'm looking at 400-600 , I think I'm going to look at a few others and pass on this one. Had it been a Euro, I would have grabbed it.

I had some on my old G&L L1505 and really liked them. I need to put a set on my Legend 5. I want the string tension to match my roto strung NS2A. Luckily I can dive to Skips shop and pick them up.....

Damn, that's too bad. That would've been a steal of a price. I'm still really seeing an old Euro in the picture though, maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. Did you contact PJ and ask about the serial number? That would be what'll tell you 100%. Here's a NS2004 FYI.

Thank you! I really appreciate it.

The NS-4 seems to sound a bit "thicker" and "deeper" with just a hair more zing on the very top end. The NS-2, especially the solid maple one, seems a little bit "growlier" and a little less thick/deep.

Also looking forward to hearing the DC/DC version to see how that compares. They all sound good!

Ok so I'm really digging the Rebop with the Hz's and Korean copy preamp. (Also its so freaking light compared to all my other all-maple neck through basses!) I think I prefer the pickup placement (neck pickup closer to bridge) than the placement on the NS-94/94/NS20004/NS2005 because it gets a bit more growly and so the neck pickup is less boomy. I do prefer humbucker in bridge vs. single coil, singles always sound too thin to me on a spector bridge pickup, unless it is only being used to offset the tone of the neck and never soloed, because it really helps round out the P pickup on the PJ basses, I just don't like having a 2-pickup bass where i cant solo each one.

Anyone know how Rebop pickup spacing compares to the NS-4? I'm always looking to the future :D
