Question guys, any of you guys have any issues with truss rod rattle on your spector? My TR is vibrating on certain notes and harmonics. It's a single action rod. Any ideas on how to fix it? The rod itself seems to be working fine. I have checked everything else and it's definitely in the rod.

Take off the truss nut, remove your string nut & pull the rod out using a pair of needle nose pliers (Careful not to hurt the threads).

Add a piece of felt with a sticky back to either the top or bottom of the rod. This will work as a shim. Slide the rod back in & replace the 2 nuts.

Well it has been one month with my Rebop with EMG DC's and the EQC and now I love this bass so much better with the sweep and mid controls.

I am getting some great modern tones with the setup through a vintage Acoustic 140 head and two 12's. I am still wondering whether I should install a CS in the bridge though for a warmer sound.

I saw several youtube vids of the DC/CS setup and am torn since I also play a G&L L2000, which in active mode can achieve the more traditional warm tones as the CS EMG's. I may keep the DC's in for the upper mids and clank I get with half rounds. I found the half wounds work well with the Rebop.

It's cool that they will give you a discount if you tell him about being on TB. However, the typical schlub buying strings online will see no advantage to buying LaBellas from BSO.

He is a better servicer, he includes extras in a lot of the orders. Just a very nice person to deal with.

So your telling me the rods can be removed from spectors? That's awesome! When you say remove the string nut, how does it come out?

After removing the strings of course...just tap the string nut from the end with a blunt tool. They're not glued in very much. I've replace a few...I myself usually use a common/flat tip screw driver, place against one end of the nut and use a light weight hammer and just give it a very light tap...it'll pop right off. Be careful not to ding the headstock or neck. Shouldn't be a problem. I was very nervous the first time, I asked a buddy of mine how he does it and this is what he told me... It works very well. Then to install the nut, just use a couple drops of super glue or Gorilla glue. Have fun! :)

I usually but a piece of scrap wood up against the fingerboard side of mine and tap it with my rubber mallet.

I keep finding places where people in these Spector threads mention that Spector will upgrade the rod to a double action. Is that right? This may not even be worth messing with, as the only time this happens is when the strings are played really hard open or playing harmonics, usually even then it's only when your hand isn't putting a lot of pressure on the back of the neck, and you can't hear it through an amp. It's at its worst when the bass is laid flat and the strings are struck (but who does that unless they're doing a setup?) it just drives my perfectionism tendencies crazy!

Anyone have a 'top view' pic of the Spector 18V USA circuit that they would be willing to post here?

I am considering picking up one to install in my Euro 4LX.

I would just like to see how it compares to the 9v USA circuit with regards to the components used and the circuit design before dropping $250-300 on one.
