Worked on a mix a little today. I've shared this with a few and wanted to get some feedback on the mix. It's still a work in progress. Recorded this in my studio space at my house. Anyhoo throw some cans on and let me know what you think.

We'll I thought it was gone but it's not, i also discovered that I can tap on the neck and hear it slap against the channel. Bummer I was really stoked to get this bass back, it's minor I know and I'm sure it did this the 1st time I owned it but I somehow just never noticed it. I do all kinds of crazy electronics board rework/repair at my job, but for some reason trying pulling this rod out is terrifying to me, so I guess I'm gonna have to find a luthier. :( I am curious, why does the nut have to come off to pull the rod out? I couldn't see it anchored to anything in the channel??

Most of the time when you hear a truss rod rattle means there is no tension on it, very important to check what the relief is on this neck.

If the truss rod is completely loose and the nut on the truss rod has been removed it should pull right out, the best thing to do if it will not slide out would be to call Spector at the shop to get technical assistance.

Yeah I watched a thing on Warwick basses which appear to have a similar system and it looked like the guy just slid it right out! This one won't budge. I took the tr nut off and got the string nut off and it would not come out for anything. I just got it put back together again and don't want to mess with it anymore for fear of damaging it. I sent an email to spector earlier, and being that it's the holidays I probably won't hear anything until Monday.

What a show last night! Incredible turnout and the sound was amazing! The venue was awesome and the crowd was great. I couldn't ask for a better show. It was above my expectations! The Brooklyn rocked the house!!!!! I love that bass! :bassist: :bassist:

Here are some photos and a video link...sorry about the blur and shake of the video, the camera was mounted on a tripod that shook quite a lot.

Great pic's, I'm sure it was an awesome show!

Actually that was an older version. This version has the changes and added in some more bass to the mix.

Never mind I can't get it straight, keeps throwing up the old mix down.

Man I miss my Kramer, I should have never got rid of it, ive got another bass that gives me my sound but its not a Spector so I feel a lil bit like an imposter here. Someday im hoping to get an NS2J, right now its not doable, trying to pay down the debt ive incured since joining this cursed TB lol!

What is strange about this is you have said that the truss rod works and the neck is straight. Now that you had the nut removed from the truss rod and the strings removed from the bass in order to remove the string nut the neck should be in a different position (because the string tension pulls the neck one direction and the tension on the truss rod counters that movement when it's adjusted), can you measure the relief you have now, tighten the truss rod and then measure until you see the relief clearance lessen (example: if the relief is at .030" now tighten until it closes the relief/clearance to .025") then check to see if the rattle goes away? We are just testing to see if the truss rod is under tension because it should not rattle when it is, as suggested I would contact Spector if the problem continues [email protected]
