SPECTOR® Club - Part 73

Just me but, I like the Ebony fretboard with the violet and black scheme of the body.

Since I played ebony on graphite from '89 to 2012 I didn't really think about it (much). I saw my first UV NS2 (Carey's when it was still for sale at the Guitar Shop) I pictured it in my head with the ebony, and I love the way the ebony makes the abalone pop, and I immediately decided that if I can make new a NS2 happen for me that's what it would be. All I had to do was decide on the hardware and we saw how much fun I had with that.

Oh, and I just stole your pic and made it my desktop....:ninja:

No problem. Anything I post is up for grabs by all.

YES!! Guys, guys... The Warwick is SOLD! Time to order up a new 6LX! SO HAPPY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

Yes! Great Kyle. Now comes the fun part, putting together the order. The wait is hard but worth every second. Can't wait to see your new baby!

Okay, this made me giggle like an 8 year old. I imagined the snap of the latex glove on the nurse's hand. Mr. Trace, please try to relax... :eyebrow::D

Carry on. :bassist:

You're a sick man Eric! :D

Yep, this! Same here...my first and current fretless is an Ibanez SR375F. But like you said here Patrick, when I want that "One" tone/sound and finely made instrument, I reach for my Coda 5XL DLX Jazz Bass. :):bassist: I seriously doubt my Spector bass(s) will ever be replaced. :ninja:

I have played and owned A LOT of basses in my life. And I could've gone on and been happy as a pig in s**t with my Euro. Also, back when I was making a living as a touring musician much of that time I was playing a bass only half as good as a Legend. I would've loved to have a Legend then.

That said, when I opened the case on my first new USA Spector it was something like this...
vince%2Blooks%2Binto%2Bbriefcase.jpg

I knew I was looking at something I'd never seen before. And when I picked it up and started playing it silently, I cried like a baby (OK, not really ;) but you know what I mean :D) Whoa. They are something. And that's all I have to say about that (for now :smug:)

Been trollin' the classifieds today, got a little change in my pocket goin' jing-a-ling-a-ling....

It always seems that when I'm looking for a certain kind of bass, they are never around, like when I want a 4, there are all kinds of 5ers for sale, and vice versa.

Well, I got the hankering to try out a Spector 5-string. I still may go the BEAD route, but I at least want to see what's available in the market.

Budget is under $2K. So, other than US NS's, if anyone whose been waiting on the fence about selling, has a 5 string US BO, Euro LX, Rebop, or Legend, that they might be willing to sell, please PM me.

Thank you.

Ok here's a question. I habe a Jackson KBX that I love. Purely for its looks. It's a bit awkward to play a d I have it tuned BEAD which is floppy as hell. I've always wanted one but it's just not getting used. I love the look of it and play its guitar cousin all the time. Should I let it go? Or keep it because it's one od my favorite looking basses? It's not taking up much space and I don't need the cash... What think ye?

My two cents? If you don't have a purpose for the sale (a purchase in mind) then hang on to it until you do. IMHO :D

Floppy, huh? Isn't the KBX just the Kellybird CBX series? I have a CBXV and it's definitely not floppy. What gauge/brand are you running? I have D'Addario XL 45-130 on mine (5 string model)

You might take a look at the Guitar House site, he has a few Spectors that might fit your needs hanging on the wall!

:hyper: Go Carey/Torn! :bassist:

We are doing our first 2014 Benefit in Onaway, MI. this Sunday afternoon, for a couple that's had insurmountable hospital bills and about to lose there home to the bank. Hoping for a great turnout. Multiple bands and we all get a 45 minute play time slot. :bassist:
Good luck at the benefit, I hope that all of the bands are able to help the folks that are in need!

I think that you designed not only one but TWO KILLER BASSES!

YES!! Guys, guys... The Warwick is SOLD! Time to order up a new 6LX! SO HAPPY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

AWESOME we need more Spector 6'ers in here, 6-string Spectors are so cool!

Mine's only a Legend (but Mark of StS did modify it with EMG-X's and a BQC so its got the tone at least!) but it's so freakin classy, can't wait to see the mock-up of your 6LX order!

Ah, you're the lucky guy who ended up with Mark's Legend 6! That think sounded awesome, I wish he was still a Spector Endorser but his new Warwick does sound pretty awesome I have to admit.

I agree about the 6 string basses though, I love them and I'd really like to pick one up in the future just to mess around on but I know I'd likely stick to playing 5's live so why not just save for another 5 string??

Thanks Jeff:cool: It's good to hear reinforcement from bass players like you that have played a lot of years and played tons of different basses. :)
+1 on that! That first one you never forget...and it's that same feeling for each one after that too. :smug:
Good luck at the benefit, I hope that all of the bands are able to help the folks that are in need!
Thanks Carey:) A bad snowstorm caused this benefit to be rescheduled from Dec...NOW we have looming over us this weekend, snow/rain/freezing rain! Argh!!!:rollno: Maybe, Just maybe it might go south of us, by God's good grace!

So, I dont want to drop names or possible purchases in the works, but I may have a legend 4X pretty soon. And I remember seeing the "Lite Brite" ReBop one day and commenting on how cool that paint job was. I was then told that it was a vinyl cover for the bass. The company is www.skinyourskunk.com. And they will do custom pictures or graphics for your guitar or bass. Costs a bit more, but a complete custom vinyl skin.............

I think Johnee DeShee and Bassboy know where I'm going with this.......

What would everyone think of this on a legend 4X?
