^ These are the guys that put the finishes on all of Stuart's instruments, as well as others. Fabulous workmanship that comes out of this shop. The guitarist in my band runs their paint shop. Great people.

Jimmy Eppard applies the matte poly finishes on all USA SPECTORs in the SPECTOR workshop.

The high-gloss finishes are applied by Gerhard's. Before that he sent them out here to Cali to Pat Wilkins.

I've learned a long time ago that there are always exceptions... that's why I like to say "traditionally"... which means in the past this is what mostly happens but... It depends on the application and the work load at the SPECTOR® workshop I would think.

Traditionally Stuart has only farmed out the high-gloss stuff.

He's never had the facilities to do that sort of work except at Kramer. George Felise handled most of that there and his work is sick. He's done some contract specialty work since Kramer's demise... mainly stuff for Rex Brown.

It is possible that if the limited space that Stuart has at the Saugerties Workshop is full of bass bodies in the process of being finished he would send the overflow to Gerhards.

They've been so slammed this year. As you know it's been a bad year for snow-outs.

So it's completely possible. Honestly when I talk to Stuart it's about website and marketing stuff. I don't have anything to do with the manufactoring. So unless he volunteers something about doing something different I just go by what has traditionally been done.

Typically, though... Jimmy does the natural stain matte poly applications. He did a beautiful (funky... but very, very well done) rainbow stain USA Bolt-On for NAMM this year.

I'm sure you know where your bass was finished. Who knows? I know they've been jamming trying to get orders built and finished.

It wasn't my bass (I wish it was!). He brought it over to show me the finish, it was something I was looking into having him do on one of my (gasp!) P-basses. lol. He said the matte finish is THE hardest to get perfect.

Yeah, he's been crazy busy getting orders done. I believe they just picked up work for Tobias too.

Such as the wicked sounding NS-2 that toured with Pink Floyd back in the 1990's for the Division Bell Tour.

I've been trying to sell my XBOX for months. If I could do that, then I'd have at least half of what he's asking, and have a better chance of getting it.
I'm curious as to what it really is though. Because a Legend at $700, used, is a little much. This guy's Spector is a little pricey, too...

There is a 2003 NS-JH5 QM that just got relisted on Ebay for a great price.
My GAS is acting up but this is out of my $$ range, although if it was a 4 string I may have just went for it and opted have my car taken away next month.

Thought someone here would be interested.
(the seller claims it was only played a few times, less then 2 hours)
