Correct... owners of older "Lefty" versions cannot fit this bridge. It appears to be something that was done for Robbie Merrill and because the effort was put into place at the factory to do it, it'll be the new "Stock" bridge.
As for the up-coming new Euro-Standard Right Hand bridges with Intonation screws.
Yes. They are coming.
No they will not be larger and WILL fit any past SPECTOR Euro model.
Unlike the new Lefty bridge THEY WILL NOT BE A FACTORY option.
Here's the deal. To make them work correctly, the Czech shop would have to create new dies, and basically go to a larger bridge system. And Stuart and PJ were against changing anything that would exclude people. So after playing with some current Euro bridges back at the USA shop, they found a way to machine the screws themselves without having to recast the bridges.
SO HERE IS THE DEAL. They are working on figuring out how much the retrofit will cost. Meaning what are they going to charge for it.
But the fact is that shortly, all of you will be able to order a Euro Bridge in any configuration (4-string, 5-string, 6-string, black or gold) that will have custom intonation screws set in it from the NY Shop. They will ONLY be available on the SPECTOR wesbite in the online store and will not be "standard" on the factory Euro models. It's almost like a factory aftermarket mod.
They work really well. Are stable and durable. So once a couple of other things gets worked out. I'll let you all know pricing and when they will be available.
I spoke with PJ this morning about it and it will be very soon.
Perhaps right after Summer NAMM in a couple of weeks in Nashville.
All this is just par for the course in adding to the constant Spector model/option confusion (Geeze guys, c'mon?!). If a new righty bridge is made available, current lefties will just be able to switch the saddles around without the hassle of dealing with the larger (???) lefty bridge....which won't be available as a retro fit anyway.
This is all confusing to me as adding intonation screws to the current Euro bridge would not be "brain surgery". Especially if done during production rather than a mod/retro fit. Like you said, Stuart and PJ have already figured it out. So why couldn't the Czech guys?
Why didn't the Czech guys (if they're going to cast a new bridge) put both height screws at the front of the saddles like the current (updated) USA intonation screw bridge? The intonation screw already supports the back end of the saddle so puting both height screws upfront is a much more stable design. This is why it was changed on the USA bridges. The "kitty corner" screw configuration is one of the major contributors to the Spector bridge being so hard to work with. It is not a stable design. It's a balancing act. (Sorry, but this has been one of my engineering pet peeves about the Spector bridge for 20+ years.) They got it right (finally) with the USA bridge. Why not follow up?
If I was Mr. Merrill, I'd be scrapping that bridge, getting a USA replacement ("Righty" if need be. Swap the saddles around. Spector nor anybody needs to produce a "left handed" bridge. Who cares what side of the saddle the intonation screw is on. This was totally unneeded. :scowl

and telling my tech to get the dremel tool out.
This is all silliness. The saddles can be switched. A "lefty" bridge was never needed, much less a larger one.
There just seems to be a lot of design logic that falls through the cracks over at Spector.
This isn't aimed at you JPS. You're just relaying what you're given.
This is just me thinking very out load. There's been a lot of head scratching stuff come from Spector over my 20+ years of using them.
Ultimately I prefer the NS bass to anything else, but they could be so much better if a little more design/implementation logic were involved.
Yes, Warwick's designs are very plagiaristic. But they're greater popularity could come from the fact that they don't seem to make a lot of head scratching moves like this. Just sayin'.......
