What cabs are you guys using? I'm currently using a Bergantino NV215. It's a sweet cab and I love it for the HUGE bottom it has but I don't think I'm getting all the growl these growly bass have. Maybe because of the 15 inch speakers. Maybe it's my amp EQ. But anyway, what kind of cabs you all using? Oh and what amps to?

Dual amped:
Eden WT550+Eden 410XLT for lows and low mids,
SWR Redhead 2x10 combo for high mids and highs.

Good sound, good versatility.

I used to have an Eden 410XLT with my old Stingray5 and an SWR SM400s. That set up was all about the growl.

I use either of two rigs depending on size of venue;
Ampeg B-15T Porta-Flex Flip-Top
Ampeg PR 410 HLF Amp Ampeg PF-500

Either rig brings out that SPECTOR growl!

He seemed to be atracted to the vibration and movement of the strings. If I find him up near my Spectors on the wall...its back to room. or worse

I use a Mesa 400 + with a Mesa Powerhouse 1000 cab (410s + 15). Thunderous

I use a (pre-Fender) SWR 750 + SWR Goliath Sr. 6X10 cab
It sounds freakin ridiculously awesome!!!

Also, question for all you Spector history whizzes: I saw a listing on CL for a "1983 NS-2 CRFM" the other day. Did Spector make basses in Europe that early, or is it one of the 83 reissues? Or maybe just incorrectly marked? I'm on the mobile app right now, but I'll post a link when I get home.

I think someone mentioned this some days back in Spector Club Thread #11. It is probably a 1999-2000 CRFM4.

Is this the link? If so, looks like he corrected it.

The 83 reissues are bolt on necks with 2 "J pickups."

I have a 83' re-issue and a early Euro 4 (right when they switched from CRFM to "Euro" name)

As a comparison, in case you were interested in either of these.

The CRFM4 has a very thin neck, while the NS-2JA-R (83' re-issue) has a beefy neck. Also the CRFM4 is very punchy and would be nice and growly with that aguilar pre-amp upgrade while the NS-2JA-R is very smooth and laid back sounding.

Both of these are good deals for the prices they are selling at.

I just used my friends rig for a gig here in Minnesota this weekend. Eden WT-550 with a 410 XLT cab. Very growly, sounded just awesome. I will be saving for this exact rig. I have had Eden stuff in the past, but never played a Spector through it, just sounded incredible.

I use a similar rig - same cab but with the Navigator preamp and a Carvin power amp. It's fantastic and angry.

When I use an amp its a Markbass LM3 with a Bergantino HT112ER & EX112ER. I also just purchased a Retrospec Juicebox all tube DI that I can't wait to get out and try live.

Indeed I did! It's a fantastic bass too!

There's something about a Spector though that's got me looking hard at them.

I am using and LOVING my Ashdown Evo Mag 810 cab. It great with the Ashdown Evo III 900 head I have.
I've started jamming with a guitarist and he is saying that the sound really cuts through nicely.
I got a sweet deal on both....so I have nothing else to compare too

At one time I played my NS-2A through my "Skunkworks" Ampeg SVT through 2 8-10 cabinets, so growly and loud, didn't need the sound man or his PA most of the time. That was like 10 years ago, my back couldn't take that now, but it sure was awesome back then.
